Role of Human Resource in implementing Vision/Mission Statement
Human Resource (HR) is an important aspect of management. It refers to the human capital that is at the disposal of the organization. It encompasses all the activities that concern employees in a firm. It is crucial to the organization because it is known by its employees.
A vision statement of a company shows the road taken by it to achieve the organizational objectives. On the other hand, a mission statement is a summary of the value of an organization. Both these statements are forward looking in that they describe a future event in the present. The Mission Statement of Kendall Regional Medical Center is “to deliver quality, compassionate and cost effective healthcare services, in a safe environment, through operational excellence recognizing the cultural diversity of our employees and communities we serve” (Kendall Regional Medical Center).
The HR managers streamline the vision, mission etc. which actually are the concept of HR planning (du Plessis, Nel, & San Diego, 2013). The company’s aspirations are fulfilled by its employees. Hence, the vision and mission statements are prepared by the HR team for the implementation by all the employees. HR should understand employees the best of all. HR prepares the vision and mission best because it can understand the true feeling of employees.
Companies should ensure enough congruence between HR practices and value statements (Ortega-Parra, Ángel Sastre-Castillo, 2013). The mere formulation of HR policies does not ensure that HR and the mission statement, for instance, will be aligned to each other. The formulation stage is important so that a wrong mission with which the employees cannot identify is forced down upon them. Obviously, the other crucial aspect over here is implementation.
