As such, engineers must define complex flow-sheets as well as process conditions before the simulation process formally begins. It should be noted that desktop computers currently allow sizing, optimization, dynamic calculations, and rating which previously tended to demand large mainframe computers to compute. Additionally, more experts were needed to compute simulations unlike now where no experts are required in performing simulations.
Even though today’s simulation process has been simplified, it is essential that engineers adhere to good process simulation principles. These include the key steps that they must follow in setting up a simulation process. They also need to have quality standards that they will refer to in determining if the simulation process is proceeding on well or if they need to change. This is because in the event that a simulation process is carried out wrongly, mistakes will arise and, therefore, the resulting decision that is made will certainly be costly. In order to ensure that the simulation process is set up well, it is imperative that engineers use tested and quality input data so that the simulation results are not misinterpreted since they will have no errors. The engineers must also use proper methods when setting up the simulation process.
Overall, for a successful simulation process, it is essential that important physical property methods are chosen, the physical properties are validated, and non-data bank propertied described. Additionally, it is imperative that the engineers obtain and use physical property data and describe the compound or chemical species parameters. Lastly, the engineers must estimate the missing property parameters and include them in their report when they finally complete the simulation process.
