Leaders have a significant impact on the effectiveness of strategic plan used in any organization as they are the ones that plan for the appropriate strategy to use and how it will be implemented. In any corporate, leaders have the mandate of dictating the strategy that is used in operating a business. It is worth noting that leadership development can be done through some approaches as well as the strategic planning process which is unique to every organization. Various scholars assert that leader of an organization help in setting a business vision, a function that is also achieved through strategic planning. Moreover, to conclude on the concept, leaders have an impact in steering a business towards meeting its future goals, and when combined with strategic planning, it offers the best approach towards success (Bryson, 2011).
What steps are necessary to get started with strategic planning?
As mentioned earlier, strategic planning is essential to any business as it determines the future goals of a business and how the same can be realized. However, different steps are used to meet the above terms, which include; conduction of a SWOT analysis so as to understand the surrounding environment to the organization and the immediate competence of the business. The second step in the process is determined what is important, and this action means that the organization has to understand where it needs to reach, an indication of the long-term direction of the business. Apparently, it is in this step that both the organization mission and vision statements are set to help guide stakeholders in realizing the future goals of the business. The third step in the process is defining the different objectives that must be achieved by the business based on the prioritized issues. However accountability of the different activities of the business should also be accounted for, and this includes effective allocation of the human capital among other significant resources. The final step in the process is the consistent review of the plan to see if it meets the set needs of the business and how it can be altered to meet the business objectives more effectively (Bryson, J.,& Alston, 2011).

The main reason as to why strategic planning is discussed last is because of the role that the concept plays in organizational management. In any organization, stakeholders have the mandate of setting the expected outcome that is supposed to be realized by the management team. However, the manager through strategic planning tool sets an effective plan on how the different goals are met by managing the daily activities that are run by the business. For any organization that requires growing, it has to embrace the different risks that are attached to the business and how the same can be managed (Bryson, 2011). The complexity of a given strategy, therefore, depends on how sophisticated an organization is, an aspect that requires a lot of information for it to be successful. Therefore, the strategic plan has to embrace as the last weapon to give the firm a competitive advantage in the market over the rival's parties in the market.
