Personal Weekly Journal: The Journey to Developing Skills
A fascinating week full of experience and much learning. I learn many things this week. I put the raw egg over the flat bread, then I put the cheese on the egg. What do I come up with? Dessert!!! Dessert is a common word used in the food industry to employ a variety of food course that entirely consist of a sweet array of foods. It involves such foods like the snacks, sweet soups, fruits or what is called pudding in other contexts. Delicacy sometimes may sometime be mistaken for flavor. The food was so sweet and we did the following activities
Pulses: My timetable for the week action target really worked well. I plan to know what dessert is, and find it very sweet. I learnt that a well-organized activity program is one way to success in the activities planned. The lecturer introduces to the various types of desserts in the food industry in the lab was really exciting. I feel happy.
Deltas: Even though learning about dessert was a good experience, I found the food so big to put in my mouth. I also look and see some food in my mind looking scary and funny and I also got restless. I often got irritated time after time in the lecture hall. At the same, the idea of extending the lesson got me irritated. I had planned to leave earlier one day.
I want to learn to enjoy this food. I will eat it small, small until I finish next time. I also want to learn to be patient and also give allowance to end of lesson activities to avoid the irritation. I should strive to research on the various food courses. This will help me to avoid the disgusting imagination.
We continued with the previous week's work as a routine, but ready to learn the real context of the various recipes. This time I put different foods from that we put last week, I put ice cream, flaking, and cookies on the plate to combine with the flat bread added. It became bigger this time round. I really wanted to know the taste such combination of dessert as we prepared it. The teacher also introduces some other sweet dessert, but we did not make a toast. These included chocolate recipes, cake recipes, fruit desserts among others.
Pulse: The desire and willingness to learn can really lead to a creative learning interaction. I had a super-yearning mind this week. I wanted to prove myself by eating the food. This made me learn a new skill in developing personal recipes. I loved the cookies so much, but I had not known they can be sweeter in this state. Wow! This was an awesome experience. Desserts are indeed very healthy besides looking "yummy", for lack of better words.
Delta: The prior judgement of these recipes never matched the findings. It is not a good idea to have a preformed opinion about some things in my life. Making different recipes practically saw my clothes dirty, I don't like dirty clothes. I felt about my clothes being dirty with ice cream. Being laughed at in the new environment when I spill a portion of the ice cream ingredients in the hall got me angry. I feel bad, want to be alone.
Strategies: I should take more time and identify with my talent capabilities. Design a program to exploit more about the various recipes available. I should learn to be keen and make new friends to help me know how to eat new things and how to be in groups.
Did you mean food, keeping? Oh my God!, I loved this topic. "Garde manger is the most historic aspect of the food industry." I hear the professor say. I think these foods must be which can go bad readily like the "serve when cold” beverages, salads, and other food types required cold. Food is a very a precious aspect of life, no man can really live without food. So we should preserve and keep our foods well. That is the way to go. I put vegetables and sauce in the bowl, I mix it, and then I pour it the plate. It was very delicious.
Pulse: The prepared lists of the "Do's" that were planned for the week were achieved as planned on the first day. The food looks good kept. The idea of knowing different types of foods and the state in which they should be served really gave me a practical guideline for the studies. Contented with the learning environment, I managed to inspect the established regions of food storage. Things just went the way I had planned.
Deltas: Cold environment!!!, I don't like touching cool things. I felt mad the first time I thought through handling the refrigeration equipment. I feel cold in the blood when I touch cold things. Monday was a hell of a day. I kept pondering through the idea, cold stuff is not my portion. I had a bad experience because the region was very cold.
Strategy to change the deltas into a pulse
I want to be a hero, I want to conquer my challenges. I think I will definitely achieve, just that it will come with time. I want to develop positive thinking over my past and conquer the future. I should learn to cope with cold things in the learning environment. I should have a fridge to keep my foods as well. I want to let my parents about this experience. I also want to touch more of the stored food in the cold region. If I do this, I will manage to be my own hero.
Hurray! You now know the various places where we keep our food. The professor shouted with relief, you can now develop your own. We did the routines of last week. But, this week we added a bottle of cold water to the other course. As usual, Monday came with the usual "how about it" scenarios in the arena of interaction. We hugged and hanged around after lessons, but for me this day was a different one for me. I kept pondering about the possibilities on the topic. I look at my friends and they look me back. We had learnt a lot from the last week's experience.
Pulse: Things had happened the way I planned on Sunday night before I sleep. I want not to feel bad about cold things again in future. I lead the team of friends to picking the sauce and the plates in the manger. I had expected a lot. I wanted to know how the experts manage to keep the food that we enjoyed without having them spoilt. As I checked through the checklist, I realized that there is much potential within. "I can build my own world in a day".
Deltas: Sometimes we get carried away by the learning environment. This week I missed my family members so much. I could not concentrate in the studies for the whole of the week. Even though I had managed to finish the set target plans, I missed my mother. I received a call from her that Sunday night. It was overwhelmingly not easy to concentrate in the studies. It was a bad experience because I wanted to be with my family members so much.
Strategies for changing deltas into a pulse
I have to plan and visit my family members at least once a month during my weekends. The bondage of family members is the will to success. I should also plan my time well to talk to them more frequently.
As I looked through the window this Monday morning trying to reflect back on our family table, I got caught at the crossroads. Why should we be taught about a table? Who does not know what a table is used for? Then when I looked back in the room, 12 students sit round a round table. 12 students place 50 plates on the big table ready to eat! Or what was going to happen? Foods were served on rounds. The first round, 12 students places vegetables in the middle of the plate. The second round the students put sauce on the plate. Then we followed with topping on the 50 plates. The last round is putting the bread and ice cream on the plates.
Pulse: The table meal course was very satisfying of the lesson plan. I paid keen attention on the presentation and at the end of the lesson, I left the hall feeling awesome and overwhelmed at how much I had managed to learn this day.
Delta: This day left me in a mixed emotional state. I felt bad about remembering the family table, but at the same time I felt good having learnt and interacted within the learning environment. I think my plan and the work list was not objectively designed. I should have had an outlined study objective for the day. I want to know much about how the big table.
I should plan and make good objectives for my studies. Proper planning is the best way to manage time and outcome quality in any place of work. I must therefore plan all my activities objectively everyday before launching into action. If only I had read and researched about the presentation, I would have had a clear idea of the topic. I will plan next time.
The content of the big table continued for the whole of the week. I had a great excitement over the previous experience. We had a joint meal over lunch time to demonstrate how a big table would be used. The implication was as well applied in the context of the pool of the server connections in the google files as well. These were really enjoyable moments in the academic life history. I sat quietly to meditate upon the lectures after the various classes, it was very obvious that, to learn, you must be ready to unlearn and relearn various aspects of a concept.
Pulse
This time round my objective plans worked well and I had to share with my mum over the phone my week's experience. As she picked the call, I could hear how much she had missed my voice. The call really worked in linking us emotionally together. I appreciated the effort made in planning my time well for the week for it brought forth the results witnessed.
Deltas
However, I had a lot of difficulties coping up with the friends at the big table. I did not know which food to choose and it did not work well in my case. I had to be guided by a friend on the local meals as the names were not what I was used natively.
Strategies to make the delta a pulse.
The best strategy to counter culture shock is to use a friend in the vicinity to help you make choices that can help one overcome the new environmental demands
If there is anything, I had to remember out of this week's events, then I will remember the very unique spray in sorte grill. The interaction process, surely taught a lot about the virtue of being humble. Some of us tend to think that sometimes we know more than others. I had previously thought of grills in several contexts. This was an eye opener. I listened keenly to the professor with the urge of learning much about the topic.
The week had been full of joy and interactive learning. I enjoyed the way the professor was presenting the lessons. I really got to learn much out of the presentations. The practical demonstrations were full of vivid explanations towards the topic of concern in this area of study. I have learned a new idea this week. The more you are willing to learn, the more you become knowledgeable. Learning is a continuous progress indeed.
However, I felt sick with mild fever this week and that spoilt my mood towards the end of the week. I had travelled a lot in the verge of trying to reach for new market. I ran short of household stuffs. My house is located far from the market center. I had bought some few items thinking they would be enough.
I have to adjust to the changing weather patterns and restrict my expenditure styles to avoid these unnecessary movements. I should also carry appropriate self protective equipment for the changing weather patterns in the country. It is also good to keep updated with the weather forecast data.
For sure the lab session on this item was so much exciting. This topic presented a wealthy knowledge background. I could not prevent but keep yearning to know what may have followed the other in the arena. I was full of energy and expectation for the week. Monday was, as usual, very interactive as we launched the recap of the previous week. As I stoop low to note down my week's experience, life became full of joy and much more expectation. Sometimes life at best is very much short-lived. 12 students were divided into two groups. I was responsible for putting Salmon fish on the grill. The other group members were responsible for putting other type of fish on the grill. I look terrified and afraid. The heat was also too much. I look through the window then see my target plan. I look back again at the grill. I start monitoring the grill slowly as I place the fish slowly.
The activities happened as was outlined in the course objective. I learn much of the practical activity for this day. The practical sessions were well arranged and it worked well in achieving the objectives of the course as outlined. I also learn how to handle the grill. I put my Salmon fish successfully. I manage to target the heat very efficiently in the heat source.
It was a hard experience, the grill was very hot. I almost got burnt from the heat when placing the fish. I felt very heated in the hands. I also feared handling the fish. It was my first time interact with heat in my life. The group presentation did not work well with me. I found myself in the midst of very talkative individuals with well established outgoing personalities. It was a challenge to establish my area of self recognition with a group, knowing myself within the group was really hard. I did not know how to make
I must participate in all the live performances to boost my self identity and esteem. The power of making new friends from all walks of life must be inculcated in me during my stay in the college. I have to plan well my time and set the right objectives. Such abilities can only be achieved through focused group activities. I want to know how to handle the heat and the cooking process. I should also plan to manage cooking activities. The fish and the other food products are best handled when we have a knowledge of the process.
"That sounds yummy", one student shouted out to the professor. I had taken a while before writing as I looked through the ingredients presented to us in the lecture halls. Then I had the tutor say, "it is a pasta vegetable, who knows it?" I guessed through the whole hall expecting all the hands up with limited success. Pasta vegetable, was a real fascinating recipe. I really enjoyed learning what is involved in cooking this type of food. You are a vegetarian, then this is the best meal you can ever enjoy. It involves all types of vegetables that you can think about. On the boiling machine, put pasta after five minutes we add olive oil, we follow with tomato sauce and finish the dish. We, again, in addition add vegetable on the saute plate. This vegetable was added with water, the water also was to have a touch of salt in it. We also add a touch of pepper and butter. This will give the dish its flavor. It was a very good feeling. I enjoyed the process.
Pulse: The week was such an energizing one, I liked much of the activity. Much of the processes went just as planned in the protocol plan. Learning on how to make roasted pasta-vegetables, was so exciting in the practice hall and just as I had imagined. The final taste was amazing. The dish had a good outlook in the end. I love this vegetable dish so much
Deltas: However, something never went right in the due course, I spoilt one of the cutlery equipments in the kitchen and felt very bad and pitied as the colleagues looked at me in an astonished manner. I tried to comfort myself within the context of the learning, but was overwhelmed and I had to call my mother that night. The comfort of mum saw me through the week.
Interaction is the most important aspect in self growth as I came to learn during the practical. I therefore have to look for ways of developing my lifestyle to suit into the changing contexts in the learning environment. I must therefore attend several other practical sessions to avoid the panics and other unnecessary fear. Good ideas are worth implementing if reality is to be achieved in the life we live today.
The vegetarians' week continued in a stylish environment. We did the routines of last week and had fun time with my friends in the class. This week, I prepare in the morning to learn everything that I can. This week, I was now familiar and used to the environment. Commit to work and you shall prosper. I decided to use use chili sauce instead of tomato sauce. I learn much this week. My time was well spent this week. Our health is a link of our minds and the hands. If you think right in your brain and use your hands well, then you are bound to succeed. Wow!! Those were very powerful words that rang through my mind. I had read them in one of the nights as I was reading through. I must live to remember this week.
Pulse:
This was a motivational week for me. I had been stuck in the books of motivation to help boost my self esteem. The chili sauce option I make was a very good experience in the long-run. I wanted to make more of them. Things happened as earlier on plan in the topic outline at the beginning of the study. The lesson plans all went on as had been planned. I had the passion to soldier on through the hills of the environment. The sessions taught me a lot of new things. Our success begins with us.
Delta: As I struggled to build my self esteem in the field of studies, it was so hard to merge the new facts and unlearn the previous perceptions. I felt sick and self-isolated from my routine friends in the class. They had to think I was playing pretense or otherwise, perhaps something strange had happened in my life.
Strategy to deltas into pulse
It is good to plan for change and let the change be procedural. This will help to move along with the friends without making them feel the heat of isolation. I plan to practice humility with my friends to help them realize the change and its benefits. Sometimes our perceptions may be misunderstood in our environment unless we communicate very promptly and clearly among our peers.
