Peer Review
I had pleasure reading your review. I was very impressed by the movie you had chosen. I felt all emotions and worries which you had felt watching the film “Children of Men.” The idea is based on the terrible future that awaits people in 2027. Women lost their fertility and no child had been born during the previous 20 years. People were desperate because they lost hope and sense of life. However, one girl, Kee, turned out to be pregnant and represented hint for the bright future. Theo, one man who was previously engaged in politics, devoted himself to protect this girl from the enemies and gave hope to the humanity by letting this child to be born.
Obviously you were impressed by this movie very much. Your review made me think about the future and what it brings for people. You made it clear that the main idea is to make people think of consequences of their deeds and actions and of their impact on the future because if wars and terror continue, our world will really become no better than hell. The paper was written when your emotions were raging that emphasizes your deep concern about this film and about the thoughts it brought up in the minds of watchers.
You did everything to make the characters believable. Reading this movie review, it is easy to understand that Theo had great love to his wife, that he is a good and brave man ready to help the pregnant girl and literally make an effort to save the world. Luke, the enemy of Kee and Theo, is described as a cruel and dangerous man. The only thing, I suggest you should do, is to review the lectures on body paragraphs where you describe the characters. It can contribute to the clarity of characters themselves and of their role in the movie. For example, I would devote more attention to the image of Kee who is one of the main heroes.
There were also some parts in the paper which turned out to be especially catching. For example, I stopped at the phrase “life chooses for you, even if you think it was your choice.” The greatest sense is put into these words and I believe this is a perfect thesis statement and you can use this phrase as the underlying idea of the paper. I find it very good that you could focus on the most important messages in the film and explained them in this review.
I also find it nice that you rather dramatized than just summarized the events in the movie by expressing your emotions and reflections on the issue. This made the entire paper more vivid and emotional. I think the most impressive part is the conclusion where you extend your thoughts about movie and personal experience to the modern society and bring up subjects of wars and terror. You have the strongest belief in survival and believe in crucial role of strong character and pure soul of good people in the future of the mankind.
