I have always aspired to be educated from a premier institute to reach the pinnacle of success in my desired field. I am enthusiastic and passionate about following a career in Psychology and have completed my major in it along with a two year comprehensive course in a community college. My fascination and eagerness to know about the Korean culture and education has inspired me to apply for the EAP course at the Yonsei University; I was born and brought up in Japan but being a Korean I want to connect to my roots. I am keeping myself updated with the latest political, industrial and social changes worldwide by reading journals and attending thought provoking seminars by experts; with a special interest in Korea. Being an efficient time manger I am determined to complete the year long EAP program along with the other academic pursuit in psychology successfully as the UC has specific programs in Economic Psychology and related areas. I would love to explore the field’s offered at the Yonsei University; with special interest in Psychology of Collective Behaviour, Happiness and Human Sensibility. It is about understanding and appreciating the diversity in different cultures; I believe the world needs more courses like these to curb racist issues.
I am preparing myself to learn about Korean culture by communicating with some Korean friends and visiting their religious places. I want to explore about the complex political and social issues between Japan and Korea especially the geographical disputes. But despite this both countries have great impact on each other’s architecture, religion and literary works. I have visited Korea before but was unable to explore it culturally. I believe that effective cross cultural communication and management is the most proactive thought process; I want educate myself and learn about the best combination of the Japanese, Korean and American culture and be able to utilize it not only in my academic but personal pursuits too. The UCEAP program will help me in realising my dreams.
