There are various ways to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is an academic offense that cannot be tolerated. Individuals who copy paste other authors content from the internet or elsewhere are academic offenders not from any other perspective but the sense that they take other people's work and pretend it is their own. Furthermore, copying and pasting are against the copyright law, as a matter of fact, a victim can sue an offender before a court of justice. The article entirely addresses the how and the means that individuals can use to avoid plagiarism in their works. Nonetheless, the article goes further and give the real examples that can be used (Shiell, 2014).
The only way to avoid plagiarism is to desist copying and pasting, to be factual, this habit is not a good idea that should be prevented at all costs. The article primarily identifies the avoidance of the copying and pasting practice to be an essential means to avoid plug (Walden University, 2015c). However, copying and pasting cannot just be avoided in an ordinary sense; something else needs to be done. On top of avoiding this habit, the article recommends paraphrasing of other people’s works to come up with an original writing.
The originality of the summaries is validated by running the files over Turnitin. Turnitin is originality check software, after running a document over it; it would show the locations from which the articles were taken from. In the case of copying and pasting, it would apparently give the exact words that were copied and pasted and the location of the copied article. All the copied work would be highlighted in different colors. Different coloring allows the student or the lecturer to know what is original and what is not. It is the easiest way to detect plagiarism (Walden University, 2015e).
