The issue of illegal migrants has brought about dilemma leading to numerous discussions, debates and arguments. The number of illegal immigrants in the US is large, which led to the introduction of identity cards since illegal immigrants have been subject to victimization. According to the Wall Street Journal, lawmakers worked on crafting an immigration bill, which will enable organizations to prevent the employment of illegal immigrants. The whole process remained a controversy since it involved issuing of identity cards to both US citizens and immigrants. There have been other bills, which have been introduced in the past, but the current bill was seeking to address all concerns that had led to failure of the past bills.
The O’Reilly factor also echoed similar sentiments when Senator Lindsey Graham was invited on the show. He was the leading senator in the development of a Comprehensive Immigration Reform, expressing that the introduction of ID cards would play an important role in the fight against illegal immigration. The O’Reilly Factor supported the move, pointing out that the registered immigrants would lead to increased revenues for the government. However, he was pessimistic, on the capability of the Obama administration’s ability to introduce the bill based on the issues in the healthcare.
Kica Matos on a New York Times article expressed the importance of integrating all the residents into a unanimous community. Citing that issuance of identity is a step towards recognizing humanity. Undocumented immigrants could not engage in simple activities such as banking making them vulnerable. Issuance of identity cards would improve the immigrant relations with the police enhancing their security. Therefore, although there have been various controversies regarding the issues of immigrants there is an ideology convergence that issuance of identity cards is imperative.
