My name is ., and I am pursuing a degree in General Studies with special emphasis in Health Care Administration. I am expected to complete my doctorate in the fall of 2014. I have been working very hard and I have exceeded my required credits by 150 percent. However, I am presently having financial difficulties which have resulted in my not being able to complete some courses. I am writing to you for financial assistance.
My financial status changed when my family came to live in the United States. I am presently the sole breadwinner for my family as my father was diagnosed with liver disease in 2010 and is unable to work. I work part time to take care of all their living expenses as well as cover my personal expenses. After that, there is little money left to pay for my tuition and to buy books. The job at which I presently work only affords me 20 hours maximum, which is hardly enough to take care of my family and myself.
In the spring to fall of 2010 I had to discontinue 3 courses because my father’s health was affected and he could no longer go to work. I had to take on all the responsibility of taking care of my family this resulted in my getting D’s for the courses that I could not do. In addition, I again had to discontinue because I underwent shoulder surgery and was unable to study. Also, I withdrew from HIS101 because after I started I found out that this class was not one of my majors. I also withdrew from ECO 202 in the fall of 2013.
I am studying again and I have taken on all the courses and I am studying and now getting good grades, all A’s and B’s. I have since done a re-sit on the courses that I had missed and I now have more than the required amount of credits. I have one semester to complete which also includes Healthcare Administration transfer credits plus credits for E-Commerce certification. Collectively, these areas of study resulted in me exceeding credits by 150% which I did not realize would happen. The failure was as a result of my illness and my dad’s and taking care of my family. Now my dad is getting his treatment and his health is improving. I am continuing my studies and I know I have the ability to do very well. I am striving to be the best that I can be.
I have worked diligently since my enrollment into college and have maintained a 2.9 GPA. I have successfully completed all my course assignments over the three years and I am looking forward to graduating in the fall of 2014. I am prepared to continue to work very hard. I am a diligent, hardworking and conscientious student who has struggled hard to get a career in the field of medicine as it has always been a part of me to be a humanitarian.
My greatest desire is to complete my studies so that I can give back to society. One I have obtained my degree I can embark on an exciting, fulfilling career. This financial aid will help me to achieve my ultimate goal and this will help me to continue to take care of my family. It has always been my dream to enroll in this college, and I am positive that this is the best choice I have made. Your kind consideration into this matter would be highly appreciated.
Thank you and I look forward to a favorable response from you. You can contact me if you need further information.
