Conclusion
In the field of health and medicine, it is used in generating the optical image in order to visualize the internal organs and muscles by means of determining their size, structure and possible abnormal textures. The survey conducted in determining the knowledge about the ultrasound and its effects in the general population indicated that people believe that ultrasound is necessary to be incorporated in the prenatal checkups, however, the notion is not true because ultrasound is not mandatory in normal conditions on a regular basis. The patients strongly believe in the validity of the ultrasound results, however, the results of ultrasound are not considered valid by the experts and the images related to the tissue ruptures and deformation are often invisible in the ultrasonic images.
The prenatal women believe that ultrasonic imaging can help in the identification of the chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. However, this misconception is required to be enlightened by the physicians and clinicians because ultrasonic imaging can only help in the identification of the possible structural changes in the fetus. Moreover, some patients were aware about the prevalence of misguiding results by the ultrasonic imaging.
The ultrasound machine indicates the thermal index that is being displayed at the monitor in order to maintain the exposure to heat, however, general population was also unaware about this information. The knowledge about the potential risks of the ultrasound are not widely known by the patients due to which the ethical consent in incorporating the ultrasound is not practiced. People were also unaware about the over-exposure of heat to the fetus and did not know that the ultrasound should not last for more than 40 minutes in order to ensure that over-exposure to the heat is not incorporated.
Some people from the general population knew that the results of ultrasound are not considered valid by the experts and the images related to the tissue ruptures and deformation are often invisible in the ultrasonic images. The guidelines to eradicate the risks related to the ultrasound were not known by the target population and it was highly believed that there exist no potential risks of ultrasound and the treatments are highly dependent on the findings of the ultrasonic images.
