Love is something that we all have in common as human beings. At one point in life, we all have experienced love. This is either from our parents, friends or other people around us. Love is something that we give regardless of the qualities of the recipient object, or person in this case. Unconditional love is love that is not selfish. While experiencing this love, one can do anything to ensure the happiness of the other involved party, regardless of the consequences of taking a particular action. However, the question here is whether unconditional love does exist between humans. Is there anyone who would accept to suffer for the sake of another person’s happiness?
The only unconditional love ever known is God’s love for humanity. From the acts of God that are learnt in various religions, God gave his son to die for the sins of humanity. In this case, there was suffering involved by God. It was for the sake of humans who were not even worthy of the sacrifice given by God. From this, it is clear that the unconditional love comes from a divine source. Through acceptance of the love that god had for mankind, one can be able to practice the same to their neighbor.
However, putting this into practice is usually a problem. One can almost never be able to practice unconditional love, mostly because it involves much selflessness. It is only when one can put the needs of the other person before personal needs that unconditional love can be said to exist. On the contrary, in the contemporary world, self-gain is always put ahead of corporate gain thereby ruling out the presence of unconditional love.
