Inclusion or being considered an American national does not occur in isolation, but requires one to have been born in American or born to American parents. African Americans occur as a significant proportion whose identify with Americans has changed over times. From the close of the year 1776, there exists a number of ways in which African Americans have been included as in the American nationals.
The major way in which African Americans have been included into the American nations aligned with the fact that their children have been allowed access to American Schools. Previously, children born of African American parents were not allowed to attend similar schools with other Americans. For this reason, this inclusion has been a major milestone in integrating African Americans to the larger American nation. In the past, African Americans were accorded a lower societal status when compared to other Americans. As such, the African Americans viewed themselves as people who had no say in the society. Notably, changes in various areas including law, have contributed to the inclusion of African Americans as part of the American community.
