Admission Essay – Rutgers University New Brunswick
My journey to choosing Rutgers University New Brunswick has been a long and complex one, each new step preparing me for the challenges and opportunities this institution can provide. Being the child of two nurses with Master’s degrees, I have had a long relationship and substantial exposure to the world of nursing and academia. Because I grew up in such a medically-inclined family, who introduced me to the medical and clinical environment at an early age, I quickly decided that I wanted to be a doctor, my efforts since then all working toward this goal. Initially, I began my nursing education at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, but the rising costs forced me to drop out of college. To that end, I joined the National Guard to pay for the education I eagerly desire; with their help, I will be able to attend a state school for free.
Given my history, and my desire to get the best education possible to fulfill my potential as a medical professional, I believe that Rutgers is the ideal environment for my aspirations. The reputable nature and experienced faculty of Rutgers’ biology program is very attractive to me as someone who wants to receive as full an education as possible. Given the available credits I can transfer from the education I received thus far at Drexel, I believe I have a good head start on finishing my education and entering the medical field. If I were given the chance to be admitted to this program, I would become the first of my siblings to graduate from a four-year university, and the lifetime of preparation and hard work I have experienced will begin to bear fruit.
