Question One
Values of the Odyssey
There are many values that have been embraced by Odyssey. Odyssey is firsts of all, depicted as that, which acknowledges the return of one of their own. When Odysseus returns from the war that had just concluded, he receives a warm welcome. Their regard for togetherness hallmarks all societal aspects. It is an inclusive society which accommodates affairs of all people who ascribe to its traditions and values.
The hospitality nature of this community further arises from the fact that, it accommodates and cares for strangers. They could knock on any door and would receive a warm welcome. Alternatively, they would be given a place to rest. Food would eventually be served into them as preparations of where they would sleep would be under way.
The society in this context is depicted as that which embraces religion to the letter. There is the existence of gods and goddesses that are acknowledged by all people in their daily interactions. The death of a husband or wife would always be associated with prayers that were directed to the gods.
The Odyssey was founded on embracing of the family unit .Tselemachus, for example, was sent by the community to look for his father. It followed his fruitless struggles to keep the society and community in order. Visitations by strangers at the Oddyseun home created a sense of wife inheritance in the picture. The group that composed of young men had camped at a place with vested interests of soothing and pleasing the deceased woman into another marriage. It can further follow upon scrutiny that this society is traditionalistic in nature.
Question two: The role of God in Odyssey
In Odyssey, the role of the Gods is to take care of the affairs their people. They came in hand in all issues that touched on the society. One needed to invoke the gods so as to get blessings. It was also under view that, the gods did play a part in determining different events that the people engaged .For example, Poseidon was the god of the sea. Events that led to the Oddyseun people to the resultant effect of their drowning in the sea lay in their position. Had people given credit and regard to the god, probably, the trick that enticed them into their drowning scum would not have seen the light of day. Odyssey for instance underwent harsh conditions of which he did not succumb. The triumph marking his final release and escape to Phaecians, account for his adventures and the final return that he makes to his home town of Ithaca shows us the aspects that the society distinguished as the most wanted and placed at immense regard
Question three: The main idea of the Oedipus.
Oedipus brings out the theme of traditions and religion. It is evident from activities that that revolve around the affairs of the people. Traditions in this case, comprise the categories of hospitality, inclusivity, understanding and hard work. Treatments s offered to all people regardless of where you were an alien or not brings in the subject of hospitality. Hard work was a practice that also centre points this poem. At no point are we in the belief and trust in at sight in the poem context, in the embrace of laziness. Religion falls come out as the main idea to the extent that, there exists gods with a sole purpose of determining, what the society wound encounter, what it was going through at that time and what would be done as a remedy to an obscure circumstance.
