This essay is the comparison and the contrast of two romantic comedies. In this essay, we are supposed to show all the similarities and differences of these movies (Roen, Glau and Maid). This goal is achieved with the help of relevant sources.
One of the films, which is compared and contrasted, is called 500 Days of Summer. The main characters of this movie are Tom and Summer. Summer works as the assistant at the greeting card company. Tom works at the same job and when he sees her, he understands that Summer is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen before. Tom falls in love with her and tries to keep up a long relationship. However, he ignores all her hints that she does not want a serious relationship. When they break up, Tom is devastated and for the rest of the movie he hopes that he is able to win her back. Moreover, during the movie Tom thinks a lot about his relationship with Summer, recollecting the memories (Cinemablend).
The second movie, which is compared and contrasted, is called Silver Linings Playbook. The main characters of this movie are Pat and Tiffany. Pat is the former teacher who was in mental hospital during eight months. When he is released, he tries to win his ex-wife. However, he meets the girl named Tiffany, whose husband has recently passed away. Firstly, Pat and Tiffany have a friendly relationship, but in the end of the movie when they win dancing competition, Pat says Tiffany that he loves her (Cinemablend).
If to compare these two romantic comedies, it must be revealed that they have little in common and they are quite different. We can surely state that there is one similarity between these movies, and it is the story about two persons who are in love with one another. In the first movie they are Tom and Summer, and in the second movie they are Pat and Tiffany.
The first thing, which determines the difference between these two movies, is the plot and how it is told. The first movie has a lot of warm and funny things, but it is also quite sad because it tells the story of the guy who cannot understand why the girl of his dreams has broken up with him. The most unique thing about the first film is that its plot is the shuffled chronology. The movie starts on the 490th day of their relationship and jumps from the scene during which they have broken up to the scene of their happy shopping together. There are a lot of such jumps during the whole films, and this chronology really works and makes the plot be rather unique and interesting (Cinemablend). The second movie has rather standard plot, which consists of typical chronology. However, it must be revealed that this film is also rather unique because it is actually a comedy about mental illness. As it was mentioned previously, the first movie, despite all its funny things, was rather sad. The second one is quite different. It is much more crazy and funny movie. This movie is a piece of entertainment, which shows how people can be crazy (Cinemablend).
The second difference between the movies is their main characters. In the first movie, Tom and Summer are romantic characters. Because of these characters, the movie is perceived in romantic and sad way (Cinemablend). In the second movie, Pat and Tiffany are shown as very crazy and funny characters who like to do a lot of crazy things. That is why the second film is more funny and crazy (Cinemablend).
