Personal Research on a Life Decision
This essay deals with the topic of personal research in making a life decision. The main goal of this essay is to reveal all the aspects concerning the topic. A life decision, which is described, is buying a new car. In order to achieve this goal successfully, all the questions regarding the topic were carefully analyzed and answered.
First of all, when I had to buy a new car I kept in my mind that it would not be an easy decision. It was hard to choose because it was necessary to think over various aspects before making the final decision. Moreover, there are many people who are prone to buy a new car after a few days of considering the choice. As the result, such people buy cars that are not suitable for them and in the end they regret about making hasty decisions (Kbb). So I considered this issue very seriously because I did not want to get something that I did not actually need.
Firstly, I decided not to rush into things and consider all the aspects of purchase carefully. There was much information on the Internet about different cars. The first criterion, which I used, was the style of car. I knew that a car would represent me and that is why I wanted to find something that would be the most suitable for me (Kbb). However, I also did not forget to consider the price but meanwhile I did not want to buy something cheap because the quality was one the primary criteria for me. Moreover, I kept in mind that it was also of great importance to consider running costs because in some cases it could become a real problem. So I tried to find a balance between all the criteria in order to make a right purchase. I considered the issue within several days before making the right choice. I wanted a good car but at the same time, I did not want to spend a lot of money on refilling. That is why I chose the car with the diesel engine because it was a more economical choice rather than buying a car with a petrol engine. I also considered a number of passengers to carry because it was also important. I did not want to buy a very small car and I decided to choose something average, mainly a four-door sedan, which provided a good balance of cost and comfort (Consumer Reports). In my opinion, it was a clever choice.
Before determining final decision I knew that it was of great importance to consider a car safety and parking space. As it was mentioned above, I chose a sedan and this car did not take a lot of space in the garage. However, it took me several days to consider all the aspects of car safety because it was one of the primary issues for me. There were some aspects of safety that I had to consider very carefully. First of all, I considered seat belts, which are designed to keep people inside the vehicle during a crash. So during a test drive, I examined seat belts very carefully because it was crucial for me that they were safe and comfortable. Then, I had to consider airbags because they would prevent me from hitting a dashboard or steering wheel. Moreover, side airbags are also important because they can prevent me from hitting the door or other object, which can crash through it. However, even though I knew the importance of airbags I did not focus much attention on them because airbags provide live-saving benefits only when people are belted. These two aspects are interrelated and the effectiveness of airbags largely depends on seat belts. That is why I paid more attention to seatbelts than to airbags. Then, I paid a great attention to Antilock Brake System, which was designed to prevent wheels from locking when a driver brakes in panic. I knew that this aspect was also important because it would allow me to save greater steering control. This is a very crucial factor in order to avoid a collision. Of course, I was aware of the fact that ABS did not guarantee my ability to avoid a collision. Moreover, I considered the type of ABS that included brake assist. It is a very useful thing, which can sense emergency braking by detecting the speed of pressing brake pedal (Reader’s Digest). Those features of safety, which are described above, really helped me to determine my final decision because I knew that I was going to buy a safe car.
Of course, I was not able to make a right decision without conducting a research on different cars and their aspects. I found a lot of useful articles on the Internet. These articles provided several steps, which were helpful for making the right decision. Moreover, I could get the information about any car that was on my wish list. This was very useful because I did not need to go to car shop in order to see each car for myself. It helped me to save my time and get the needed information very quickly. Moreover, I managed to find a lot of useful information concerning the aspects of safety. With the help of information provided on the Internet, I was able to analyze each car very carefully before making the final decision. Definitely, I do not regret about time wasted on my research as it helped me to make a right decision.
I can definitely say that I am satisfied with my decision. Mainly, it is due to the research, which I have conducted. Driving my new car for several days helped me to realize that I did everything right. My car is comfortable and brings me a real pleasure. Moreover, I do not have to spend a lot of money on fuel and it is also pleasant. Definitely, I have never been so satisfied in my life.
If I had to remake my decision I would pay much attention to safety issues. Maybe, it was better to buy a heavier car because such cars are safer. They offer more protection than light vehicles, which have the same equipment. That is the only aspect that I would like to change.
As the conclusion, I must say that despite the weight of my car I am really satisfied my choice. I like my car and driving it brings me a real pleasure that cannot be compared to anything in the world.
