Medical advances have no doubt done a lot for individuals with one medical condition or the other. Chronic medical conditions can now be managed; some genetic conditions are also being managed because of advances in technology.
For instance, in the past, when in-vitro fertilization was invented, it was illegal because of the moral issues people had with it. However, nowadays, in-vitro fertilization has become so common nowadays. In-vitro fertilization has also given succor to a lot of couples who have one challenge or the other with their reproductive tract. Nowadays, they can also be given a chance to have their own children. This example is an illustration of how far technology has taken us.
Also, an asthmatic can now be managed properly and is at a reduced risk of dying from asthma than what is obtainable many decades ago.
A lot of advances have been made in the field of medicine and new grounds are bring broken day-by-day. To the best of my knowledge, medicine has not gone far at all. There are still a lot of things that have not been unraveled about the human body or even human lives.
I also believe that the human life is sacred. Up till today, medical science; or even technology has not been able to bring the dead back to life.
Therefore, there is a need to preserve life for as long as possible if the need arises. I believe that no matter what disability (medical) an individual has, it should not be a basis for discriminating against them. I believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to experience a stress-free life. This is the essence of preserving life. I believe and support the notion that medical sciences should do everything to preserve the life of an individual and give them another chance to experience life.
