Physical activity is one of the requirements for a well-functioning body and mind. In fact, it helps in numerous ways, and it is so sad that many technological advances and conveniences today have made it hard for people to carry out this important thing. To my knowledge, our personal, physiological, behavioral, and psychological factors get into our way of physical exercise. For instance, most people with vehicles cannot get themselves into a grocery store on foot. Furthermore, many individuals cannot walk their family around a park to refresh and connect with nature.
One of the biggest barriers to lack of exercise is the busy modern life. However, a diary can help us assess how much time we can spare in a daily or weekly basis. It is advisable to involve our family members as we can play cricket with them, talk a long walk, or go swim. Secondly, most people think that exercise is boring, but we can all overcome this by changing our attitude (Mailey et al. 82). Thirdly, others say they do not know how to be active or remain energetic. Essentially, this is sad. In this regard, one can contact local gym center as such facilities have great programs. Fourth, I believe that it is ignorant that some people say that they are too tired to exercise since the more you engage in simple physical activities, the more relaxed you feel and the more energy you have for everything else. Lastly, some of us say that they are unfit to practice but amazingly, there is something that everyone can do (Mailey et al. 75). Get in touch with your doctor, get a full medical check-up and let them know what type of exercise is safe for you. Always remember not to push yourself too hard if you are unwell.
Exercising may be hindered by one having to listen to myths about exercising and working out. For instance, one myth states that running would make knees get damaged (Heuer and Rubner 445). In essence, when one runs, it does not harm the knees if it is done in the recommended way. When running or jogging, it is important to exercise the other parts of the body to maintain a balance in the whole body. Another myth states that one would have to feel pain if an individual wants to get physically fit. In this regard, although physical fitness takes effort, it is not painful. Furthermore, one can also engage in simple exercise that does not involve any pain and still get fit.
In conclusion, it is important to emphasize the importance of physical exercise. In fact, it is high time we get out from our comfort zones and exercise because it will help us maintain health and wellness. It is important to mention that part of effective exercise includes the right diet. Hence, it is essential to be careful with what one is eating.
