Ageing out of drugs
In Colorado, events held on 28th January 2016. The events were under the title “WC Prevention Partners” in which there was a conversation with some people coming from different backgrounds. The conversation and discussion was about the prevention of drug abuse. The events also discussed the relation between suicide, substance use and bullying etc, and strategies or resources for education as well as information dissemination (National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teachers, teens.drugabuse.gov).
Society for Prevention Research (SPR) held its 24th annual meeting in San Francisco during the time from 31st May to 3rd June, 2016. The meetings’ agenda was to utilize prevention science and evidence-based programs to enhance health equity as well as improve well-being of people. With the help of the meeting, experts and other researchers get an opportunity to share information and ideas regarding new concepts, methods, as well as results in public health fields and prevention research (Society for Prevention Research, preventionresearch.org).
Events of WC Prevention Partners may have inspired the writer to write the article as it was held in Colorado, and the writer Stacey McKenna is also a research assistant professor at the University of Colorado, Denver. On the other hand, the meeting of SPR may have inspired the writer to write the article as the meeting was about the positive human development of people, so that they would live productive lives and they would develop caring relationships with other people. Stacey McKenna is working in the department of medical anthropology and has been researching human society, cultures, and their developments for a long time. Therefore, it is quite clear that the meeting on human development would have inspired the writer.
