Pediatric Health
The health and well-being of human being are one of the crucial concerns of health care practitioners and physicians. The topic of health is broad and diverse, with many areas of specification and analysis. Scientists have had studies on the human health and come up with methods to improve and handle human health cases. The study of human health requirements has become a widely studied topic in many institutions. Off all the topics and areas of concerns in the health, I find pediatric health an area worth concentrating on. Pediatric health is defined as the branch of health care services that deals with the medical care of infants and young children (Bhutta and Robert 2229). The topic of pediatric health has become a worldwide concern after being witnessed increases in the rates of infant mortality. In this article, I analyze the topic of pediatric health, its importance in the health care services and how it can be improved. I choose to base my concentration on the pediatric health because of the pain that parents get if a child does and also the impact of child mortality on the future of the society.
After the increase in the cases of child mortality rates in the mid-19th century, medical practitioners saw a need to have specialists in the area of serving and attending to young children. This is that time when specialists in child health care provision became existent in the medical field. A pediatrician is the medical specialists that deal with health care service provision to infants and small kids. The training of pediatrician has been increased in institutions with an emphasis being made on the training of personnel to deal with child health. The world health organization has also staged campaigns and strategies that aim at increasing the number of personnel handling the cases of child health to mitigate the cases of child death and also the instances of spreads of infectious disease among children (Bhutta and Robert 2229).
The cases of child deaths due to chronic illness or acute medical conditions bring a lot of pain to the mother both physically and emotionally. In most instances, the causes of deaths can be prevented and stopped if quality measures are put in place. This includes having facilities that enhance medical treatments to children and also qualified physicians to administer medication and attend to the children. Some instances where children are born with physical and mental deformities need qualified and specialize personnel to attend to such case. This is what has prompted me to have passion in the field of pediatricians and child health service provision. There is a need to reduce the occurrences of such cases among young individuals and infants, thus need to focus on pediatric health cases and services. Pediatrician plays an important role in reducing and preventing some health related issues among children. This role that pediatrician play in the management and treatment of health complications that occur among the infants and young children has resulted in emphasis being made on the training of many personnel to work in this area (Kliegman et al 49).
Pediatrics and child health is a topic that is concerned with treatment and strategic management of child diseases both for short term and long term effects. Short term effects include treatments to injuries, infections and vaccinations. On the other hand, long-term effects on children include; genetic disorders, cancer and organ dysfunctions. The long term effects need more concentration as they are the ones that cause much troubles and results in deaths of many children with time. Cancers among children is a very worrying and sorrowful event. It causes pain to the child, the parents, and the medical physicians. The parents and the child go through emotional and physical torture while handling the cases of a cancer-infected child. Pediatricians play a very crucial role in the management and treatment of the child. The treatments administered aim at reducing the suffering of the child and encouraging the parents of the child during the event. The management of the cases of long terms health condition aims at putting a child in a comfortable way to get used to his or her condition and live with it for a possibly long time. Therefore, we can conclude that pediatric health care has a positive impact on the health and well-be of children and infants (Zar and Thomas 432).
In conjunction with maternal health providers, pediatric health personnel plays a crucial role in ensuring the newborn children and infants are safe and their health is maintained. Initially, maternity health providers focused more on the health of a mother than the newborn; this resulted in a case where a child dies at its time of birth. These cases also gave lots of emotional pains to the mother; the introduction of pediatric health care has since mitigated such cases. It is, therefore, important to focus on providing quality health care services to infants and young children so that to save the lives of the people who will become important figures in the future (Kliegman et al 49).
Owing to the role that pediatric health plays in the health care services, there is a need to improve the conditions and the administration of the services. The topic of pediatrics should be given more emphasis and concentration in order to have more specialists in this area and to improve the efficiency of the services. The practitioners of pediatric health should be given facilities and equipment that will enable them to efficiently deliver their services to the children. The equipment and facilities will make the process of service delivery more easy and efficient and thus, more children will be attended to by a physician, this will result in the saving of lives of many children.
The pediatric health providers should also closely work with other health practitioners in a health care center to administer and manage the diseases in a center. As seen above, pediatricians can work together with maternity health physicians to improve the services that are offered to the mother and the newborn. This aims at reducing the chances of child death at the time of birth or a child getting complications during the process of birth. Such coordination should be administered in most health care stations and the health and well-being of the newborns and children will be maintained at high-quality levels (Zar and Thomas 432).
The medical institutions should focus on training many people in pediatric health service provision. This aims at increasing the number of personnel working with the health and well-being of infants and young children. Such a move will make it easier to manage the large population and cases of child disease across the country. Also, having more personnel increases the efficiency in the management of the health and conditions of children. The quality of training offered in the pediatric and child health field should also be improved so that the personnel that handles and manage the child health complication meet the requirements of pediatric service delivery (Kliegman et al 49).
The death of a child is a great loss to the society and country at large. This means that it is not only the parents of the child that are hurt but the whole community at large. Due to unavoidable circumstance or genetic complications, there are cases where children are born with deformities and dysfunctions in their body. The deformities may be physical or emotional. Consider a case where a mother gives birth to a child with no legs or hands, such a case causes a lot of emotional suffering to the mother of the child, the same way, a mother that gives birth to mentally deformed child undergoes a lot of emotional struggle. To help such mothers, there is a need to have specialized personnel to deal with cases and manage the cases for a long term impact. The introduction of the topic of pediatrics and child health provision has helped much in this area because it helps in mitigating the child mortality rates and managing the health complications in children (Zar and Thomas 432).
This is why am very much interested and passionate in the topic of pediatric health. The services in this topic help in reducing the pains and suffering that mother and children go through by providing long-term solutions to the health complications among children. I would recommend the study of pediatrics to many people so that we can have enough personnel to manage the health cases among children.Work cited
