Infant/Toddler/Twos Health, Safety, and Nutrition Policies
Ensuring optimum health of infants, toddlers, and twos encompasses policies particularly in situations where symptoms of illness are apparent. When high temperature, uneasiness, and distress in the child’s behavior become evident, the child should be taken to the clinic. The parents expect to be notified for such issues immediately, and there should be an immediate remedy provided to the child administered by the in-house physician or nurse. In terms of sanitation, all classrooms should observe proper cleaning and maintenance. The classroom should be cleaned regularly at least twice a day. In addition, all materials and equipment should be cleaned and sanitized if necessary.
Safety
In terms of safety, small and pointed objects is prohibited in the classroom particularly, tacks, pins, and the likes. Rubber mats should be placed on the floor at all times particularly during play activities. No child should be left unattended and all unstable objects that would incline the child to climb up must be removed from the play area and constant monitoring should be exercised at all times. Child safety locks should be installed on classroom doors to prevent children from leaving the room unnoticed.
Nutrition
Nutrition is also part of the top priority in infant and toddler care. In this regard, all food items served in the cafeteria should undergo a weekly planning, which any proposed meal particularly for the children should be reviewed for nutritional value. The order of the day is to ensure that solid food for the child should be fresh and nutritious. In addition, milk supplements will be regulated. For the infants, mils supplement is acceptable for sustenance, but still strongly advice mothers to breastfeed the infant. Lastly, no artificial food items will be allowed from consumption for the children.
