Introduction
This paper describes in detail the way the healthcare field has been exploded in recent years in a manner that clearly shows its importance to the society. The research that was done on Healthcare as a career has proved to be feudal in a manner that there are employment opportunities for just about everyone. The paper shows that employment opportunities are there for each individual depending on their level of their education and their skills and talent in the particular field that they desire to have. This has clearly been clarified where by it is perceived by the Bureau of Labor Statistics that four of the ten occupations with the fastest growth in the next decade are healthcare. It shows that the number of people employed in healthcare services are expected to rise at a very high level as compared to other job opportunities (Sternberg, 2007). This has been clarified that especially in the healthcare that is concerned with the treatment of mental illness and disorder. It is proposed that psychologist and psychiatrist are the preferred opportunists and this depends on the kind of education and training that one has undergone in the recent time of their career.
The Healthcare Field has expanded in recent Years
The report shows that Health care field has increased in concentration and a diversification of alternative healthcare mechanism are evident in many areas of the world. It has been observed that nowadays many Psychiatrists work in multispecialty clinics and other multiprovider institutions. Moreover, individual hospitals have become bigger, both because individual units have expanded and because smaller hospitals have been more likely to fail. Furthermore, healthcare delivery systems have expanded through the addition of services that are closely related hence this has motivated health care employees to become more specialized. The number of recognized medical specialists has increased in many parts of the world and hence this has led to expansion of health care as a career opportunity (Sternberg, 2007). Moreover, specialized facilities have proliferated over the past decades whereby greater numbers of hospitals are being managed under contracts that are more specialized in management.
Health care has expanded due to promoting of some form of standards that are desired for security and privacy of personal health information. In addition, the governments have been at the fur front of exerting more pressure over medicine and the health care industry by recommending compliance guidelines and changes in reimbursement. In the health care landscape, it has become increasingly dominated by corporation, physicians who have struggled to preserve their autonomy (Ferguson Company, 2006). This has led to a growing number of physicians who have become employees of large medical organizations who have made the health care system extremely complex from the consumer’s standpoint. In the event of their expansion, this has led to introduction of sub-fields like psychiatry and psychological doctors that deal with mental illness.
The Purpose of This Report
The purpose of this report is to compare psychologist and psychiatry and thus by basing on several categories that will help us provide an endorsement that leads towards one direction when it comes to health care path. The report clarifies in detail that there are a number of interesting similarities and differences but with just one key that clarifies the other as the most ideal instrument in medication. It is seen that the key difference in this case is the power of prescribing medicine to patients. Moreover, it is seen that the psychiatrist basically focuses on treating illness through pharmaceutical and less psychotherapy methods (Ferguson Company, 2006). On the other hand, Psychologists focus contrary to them, this is seen whereby they are not in the position of prescribing medication.
The report shows that emphasis has to be made on treatment approaches that focus on psychiatric; and social factors and integrate knowledge of biological sciences into practice in order to ensure safe and effective care to people with mental illness. The report shows that as compared to psychologists, psychiatrists have a clear structure of how the brain functions and its correlation to human behavior and psychopathology. Moreover, psychiatrists ought to be cognizant concerning the interaction between physical and mental factors in the development and management of psychiatric illness. This trend can be beneficial for the psychiatrists to be in the position of increasing knowledge concerning the structure and functioning of the brain. The report focuses on Psychiatry as the preferred field that facilitates therapeutic relationships and underpin its potential role in treating and restoring mental health to the public (Sternberg, 2007). In addition, the report shows that psychiatrists are in the position of defining and monitoring target symptoms as they consider the existing standards of care and treatment that are best supported by evidence as compared to psychologists who don’t. Thus, for this reason, it is clear that Psychiatry is the best career in the field medication for an individual in need of employment in this path.
In preparation for this Report
In the preparation of this report I have done most of my research on several published books that have clarified in detail on job opportunities, salary, education and on future careers that are fit for an individual to choose from. It is seen that for a career path in psychology, there is a book that has been published by the American Psychology Association and edited by Robert j Sternberg. The report shows that it clearly discusses on advantages and disadvantages of careers and describes the range of opportunities that are available for employment in the field of health care. Moreover, there is an equal amount of resources that are available for research in the field of Psychiatry hence favoring the field of health care.
The report also focuses on the issue of health care careers that has been edited by Carol Yehling and published by the Ferguson publishing Company in Chicago. The book describes in detail exactly what a psychiatrist does in his field, his education and their certification in the field of health care (Ferguson Company, 2006). Thus, this shows that the report was done in a clarified way that elaborates the importance of psychiatry in helping the mentally sick persons and a career that is worth to work in health care.
Organizational Method
The report was researched in a manner that it clarifies the advantages of the psychiatrist to the mentally sick as compared to psychologists who are not in the position of prescribing medicine. The report was done by the use of interviews and research from the books that have proved the importance of psychiatry to those who are mentally sick. This method showed that psychiatrists have a lot of impact on those that are mentally sick as they help them feel better in life thus building a better environment in the field of health care. Thus those interviewed showed that they supported the use of psychiatrists to treat the sick (Sternberg, 2007). This was possible since the 90% of those interviewed favored psychiatrists as they saw psychologists as persons who are not aware of doing what is right while prescribing medication.
The report shows that since the majority of the interviewed proposed the psychiatrists rather than the psychologists, the information gives more details since it proves that both the public and the books used during the research were right. The paper favors the use of psychiatrists as they are the competent doctors when it comes to dealing with the mentally sick. Moreover, the report shows that organizational methods that are concerned with the field of health care are difficult issues to consider while addressing the gap between finding evidences and putting them in practice. It shows that decision making, interviews and practices ought to be shaped more clearly by work policies than by scientific evidence alone (Ferguson Company, 2006). In addition, it shows that organizational methods influence the issue of making decisions and in program implementation in the field of health care. Thus, the report intends to make a decision which supports innovation that leads to existing organizational goals, intentions and sustain the content of the report.
Recommendation
The report proposes that during the occasions that one is mentally sick, then he or she should sick a psychiatric for the purpose of medication. The psychiatrists are in the position of helping the mentally sick and thus more investments should be contributed in the field of health care in order to save more lives. The government ought to employ more psychiatric doctors and give them better salaries as a way of encouraging them to work hard. Proper security should be provided for psychiatrists; this will assure them of their safety and give them a reason to work hard for their work means a lot to the society. Moreover, private hospitals and public hospitals should be provided with modern equipments that assist the psychiatrics to treat their patients properly and effectively. The report also shows that any discussions about integrating services that concern mental illness ought to be emphasized on the importance and value of the different perspectives (Mogul, 2009). Moreover, issues that concern accreditation, record keeping and other administrative decisions should flow from the ways of the psychiatrist’s description hence this will assist the patient.
Conclusion
The report shows that since there are a number of patients who have developed mental disorder. In response to this situation, a number of professionals and governmental institutions have opened vigorous dialogue that is focused on how to deal with mental health needs of patients. Moreover, preliminary but important discussions have begun to specialize on how to structure and finance mental health care for the patients. They have also gone to the extend of analyzing on how to strengthen an inadequately sized and under-trained workforce that can deal with the issue (Field, 2007). The report has shown that what ever that will emerge will be a mandate that ought to be implemented especially if it bases on preventing the disease.
The report also shows that attitudes that are held by the patients affect the priority that is given to mental health care and the principles of distributive justice should be respected in this field. Moreover, psychiatric policy ought to adapt to the mental health care services more specifically. In addition, they should improve the capacity of GPs to help recognize mental disorders and improve the capacity of GP to coordinate the treatment of mentally sick patients with the psychiatrist. They ought to create awareness to the public towards the needs of the mentally ill and the treatments psychiatry has to offer to the patient (Mogul, 2009). A modern approach to conclude favours the issue of describing the patient along with dimensions that capture multifarious aspects of the patients condition.
The patients need to be taken care of very well as any mischief could lead to a regrettable situation as these patients are usually not aware of what is happening around them. It is best to take the patient to the hospital immediately when it is discovered that there is a possibility of the patient change in behavior. This is so as any delay could lead to distraction of the patient’s autocracy the environment around them (Field, 2007). The paper clarifies that these kinds of patients ought to be taken to the psychiatric as he or she is the best person that can prescribe the desired medication that can assist the patient. In conclusion, this report has analyzed the importance of psychiatry as a career that can help the mentally sick and contradicting the psychologist as not being in the position of recommending medication for the mentally sick.
