PICOT
Population
The population of this question refers to all the patients within a hospital. Nurses are employed to serve the patients and take care of them. In addition, the nurses are employed to work for the doctors by assisting them in the activities they execute. For this reason, nurses play a vital role within a health centre. Patients with critical health conditions should be well taken care of, to improve their status. The population is made up of patients who are suffering from significant health problems. The population should be made aware of the existing health issues. They are the primary concern of the health institution within which they are treated (Milosevic, Jovanov & Frith, 2013).
Intervention
The nurses to patient ratio should be increased to improve the nurse presence within healthcare centres. Nurse staffing should be done with relevance to the existing number of patients within the healthcare centres. To ensure this is the current state, nurse training should be conducted in a bid to recruit additional nurses in regions where the patients are more than the available nurses. In some cases, people are not motivated enough to join the nursing profession. For this reason, motivational strategies should be employed to ensure that the nursing profession appears to be more attractive in the eyes of the public (Litvake, et al., 2005).
Comparison
The proposed plan to eliminate the existing problem has some comparisons to it. Other strategies will be in a position to solve the problem in other ways. The alternative method is creating awareness of the various critical health concerns that exist in the society (Milosevic, Jovanov & Frith, 2013). This will be done in the hope that people will learn how to improve their health statuses and survive for longer periods. Campaigning on the need for environmental cleanliness and general hygiene will help in reducing the number of critical health-related cases within the community. Ultimately, this will decrease the number of patients in the hospitals. Therefore, the need for professional nurses in the healthcare centres will be reduced (Simpson et al., 2012).
Outcome
The proposed strategy works to ensure that the ratio of nurse to patient ration is reduced as much as possible. The presence of the nurses should be good enough to make an impact in the healthcare centres (Simpson et al., 2012). The patients should be well taken care of and treated well for full recovery. Every patient in the hospital should receive good attention while undergoing treatment.
Time
The time duration of the process is up to five years. This is a long-term plan that will see the revolution of the healthcare sector. The training procedure of the nurses will take a substantial amount of time. The nurses will have to undergo various training sessions. Also, massive recruitment programmes for the nurses will be executed to ensure that there is a sufficient nurse presence in the various health care centres that exist. Furthermore, a review and research process will be performed to ensure that the programme is viable. For this reason, the extended period is necessary to provide an efficient procedure takes place.
Relevance
The three articles documented above provide various solutions to the healthcare problem discussed above. There is the need to reduce the stress imposed on the nursing profession over the years. In a bid to determine the various solutions to the problems, research activities were conducted to determine the best methods to solve the problems experienced in the healthcare industry. These articles have analysed the problem using the PICOT format.
