According to http://www.coveredca.com/, the California HIE website is easy to understand and follow up the content it presents to the audience. It has the ‘find local help’ option that directs the user to locate different areas that he or she may need direct help about. An eighth-grade student may want to know how to sign up, discover the types of services offered and identify the services that are provided. An individual has to go to the shop to compare options to get access to the information, which is more convenient than when the ‘sign-up’ option would be displayed at the top end of the website. Additionally, the option at the center and lower part of the page has vague options that make it hard to know what the page contains. Instead, the page should have contained some bullets indicating a ‘learn more’ option to enable easy navigation other than going through all the options while in search of information. Due to such missing features, the website is not much favorable for the eighth-grade student and thus, needs some improvement to make it suitable for the students.
Comparison with Georgia’s website
Both websites do not display the sign-up options on the top corners to allow navigation or log in to the services. Both are easy to follow up and understand by the eighth-grade students and public. Both have provided a platform for the searching on the various topics that the users may be interested in find information about.
Contrast
According to http://georgia.gov/, the state of Georgia’s website is more convenient since it contains the bullets written as ‘read more’ to direct an individual or an eighth-grade student to the information that he or she requires. On the other hand, the California HIE website does not contain the bullets and other features that direct the users of the website. The Georgia’s website does not provide the sign-up options at the end of the page but the California HIE website provides the sign-up options at the end of the page.
