Aims and Objective
The highways part aims to provide the student the basic understanding of highways design construction. An understanding of highway design construction needs an understanding of the practices associated with the rote selection is the traffic flows, vehicular behavior, and highway capacity, and also other environment. It is also aims the student to provide the basic understanding of the pavement and the traffic signals.
Learning Outcomes
This case study is to aims to give the student an experience of completing the exercise. The highway route selection, carriage stand, and the pavement design. This allow the student to become proficient in skills to undertake and evaluate the problems arise in the aspects of high ways.
Part 1 – Route Selection
Routing is the specific process. The routing is the process of selecting the best places in the network. The routing means the forwarding of network traffic among the networks. The routing is performed on the lots of network. In perfect switching, the routing directs the packet forwarding network protocol. The routing is the more narrow sense of terms. The routing is used to bridge the assumption. The similar addresses imply the proximity of the network. The structured routing allows a single routing table. In the static routing uses the routing tables. The larger network contains the complex topologies. The manual construction is not possible. The information carried allows the network to avoid the clash.
The link state algorithms allow the graphical maps of the network. To produce map each noodle should have the entire network. The each row is independently assembled. The routing is always selected on considering the different criteria. The criteria need to be satisfied to consider about the routing process. The human beings are the natural animals, involves in moving around. The opportunity will always to choose the shortest path to move from one place to the other. This behavior is being observed.
The transport is the economic activity, which replicates the process. The shorter times are paid upon by the industries. A good route selection should have the minimum overall cost. The efficiency of the route selection process is maximum. It might provide the better service of an area, but most of the routes were being constructed for the political reasons. The route selection should compromise the cost or overall service. Not all the direct route is the most efficient one. One should always be careful while selecting the route.
The route map provided above has the curvature with the design speed of 100Kph. The curvature is truing in a large angle. This route has been selected because it has very low number of obstacle. The route selecting map should always been consider as the best path. This route has very low obstacle. Other routes has very large amount of turns, which may not support for the speed of 100Kph. The route selection process is considered as one of the best choosing path ever made in the survey history. The map is provided with the tangent line and with the junction point. There are two junction points; all the junction points are small junction points. The tangent of the line will support the speed up to 100Kph. This route has one bridge, these acts as a obstacle to the entire route process. This is the two way route; in case of nay natural disaster all the passengers can escape from the other way. They will have a choice to choose the way. This route is much useful for the mitigation process. This route is always considered as the best route in the history of road transport.
Part 2
AADI = Highway Traffic / 365
= 19000/365 = 52.054
This annual average daily traffic takes place in the road. By considering the DRBM Volume 5 the new road ways should be consider in remote location because all the road are suffering from the high traffic, the alternate roads can reduce the traffic in the given area.
Part 3
Part 4
- The soil available in the cutting is to build the pavement of the foundation; it will need to stabilize the cement provided adequate strength. The soil test in the laboratory shows that the soil can be used for the traffic constructions. The traffic constructions are provided with some considerations. The gypsum cement should be used to have stable traffic constructions for this type of soil. The soil test gives about 95% of the result. The design thickness of the cement soil sub base is 3.5MM and the granular sub base is 5.5MM. This thickness is being used to determine the stability of the soil. B is given below.
- Design of considered Layer (Granular Sub Layer)
= 15/27.36 = 0.5482
= 100/28.00 = 3.5714
150/21.64 = 6.931
=200/29.27 = 6.832
The best suitable model is with the depth of 150mm. The depth has been choosing as it satisfies the above considerations.
Part 5
- This is the symbol chosen in the road turn.
- The X and Y distance shows that the, a vehicle will get the enough time to turn in the curvature. This enough can be used to avoid the accident.
- Based on the map, the height of the signal should be above 25Meters. This height will give a enough view to the passengers about the vehicle.
