Historical incidences marked the moment of the total change. The period between 1920s to the 1980s was certainly the period full of tension between new and changing attitudes as well as traditional values and nostalgia on the other. I totally agree with the above statement. In particular this was marked during the period of World War I. Evidently, the communist revolution in Russia marred by wave of terrorist attacks in United States took control.
As a form of the retaliatory response, the U.S government headed by Attorney general A. Mitchell Palmer. Based on the certainties, the existence of ‘Reds' as criminal aliens and the American government attempt to prevent crime created tension within the citizens. The criminal aliens created an atmosphere that led to theoretical ideals of the radicals and their actual bride of the law. Concern was raised if at all the criminal aliens were allowed to carry out their principles of the communist party. Ideally, the emphasis was raised due to the homeland security of the American citizens (Palmer 35). It fueled tension as the laws; policies and regulations were breached. The demands and instincts of the criminal minds prompted to the reaction of the U.S. government in instilling, morals, and lower criminal appetite. Communist as a form of unity resulted from the mass formation of criminals whose agenda was to destabilize the security and harmony of U.S government.
Similarly, the period between 1920 and 1980 indicated the desire for revolution. The U.S government attempt to capture and detain the ‘Reds' indicated the adoption of the autocracy. The system although created severity of Siberian banishment. As argued by the author, the expectation from the people is to treat alien enemies like any other citizen. Mitchel Palmer case against the ‘Reds' due to the repercussions that would transpire was put on halt.
Based on Theodore Roosevelt on his Nationalism speech (1910) ignited more tension. Since he was out of office for over a year, he came out into the lime light and his attitude changed. Typically, the situation at hand as indicated in his speech showed his desire to bring change. His main argument was based on corporate embezzlement of resources. Objectively, there was the desire for capitalized state. He particularly wanted actions that were informed (Johnson & Michael 58). Effective regulation based on knowledge to be ascertained. The American dreams are vast and his desire in advocating human kind pinpoints at the essence of the use of regulation in accessing resources. The welfare of the community indicates the degree to which the public craves for complete independence. Due to the American demand for the new nationalism, their hope is to sort out the burning issues. This is because the new nationalism precedes the nation's needs before personal interests.
On the other hand, the change in attitude that brought tension was the move by the socialist platform (1912) the claim by socialist party indicates that the capitalist system failed to solve problems affecting the society. Practically, capitalist was incompetent and corrupt. This led to the suffering of the society. On the onset of 1919, the France government has tabled a peace settlement scheme that defeated Germany.
Additionally, the theme concerning the tension created evidently was caused quota list under the immigration act (1924). Immigration menace brought divisive issues in American politics. The fear that immigrates would lower wages and undermine the racial stock of the country was contrary to the part of the American nation who supported immigration citing the creation of the American experience. Klansman's manual of 1925 was also a contributing factor (J & K 45). Many members joined the manual it highlighted divisions that ascertain the social, fraternal, governance and military. Cultural perspective show that the Ku Klux Klan, who have devoted itself in developing genuine spirit of the American spirit.
The difference in moral generated the tension. The differences between the western Christians and the atheistic communist created friction proved to be rampant. For example, the Marx idea of confiscating land and converting it to the single enterprise is momentous as held by Christians. He differences exerted pressure on the warring parties (Kennedy 58). They differ in immoralist as projected by their perspective in societal issues. The tension arose as the new transition from the older rule of law to a newer one. The speech of J.F. Kennedy pinpoints a new dawn for America (Kennedy, 101). He particularly emphasized that the celebration was a sign of freedom as a renewal and marked the beginning of a new era. He acknowledges that the world population was an heir to the older generation. The expectation of people was high, this illuminates the anxiety and tension that befall as people were not satisfied on what to expect.
Malcolm X, ‘Ballot or Bullet' speech in 1964 points at the crisis that concerns religion, incidentally, Malcolm has unceremoniously celebrated the death of J.F Kennedy. In this essence, he points out that the Americans need to fight for what it is rightfully theirs. Just light Martin Luther King, who fought for the rights of the blacks, Malcolm desired to fight for the Muslims.
In conclusion, the turn of events in history between 1920 and 1980 indicate the essence of revolution various politicians and leaders were assassinated, all in the name of gaining political stability. The tension and new changing attitudes as the traditional values were sidelined as time progressed.
