Summary of Jihadist Ideology
In the article, “Jihadist Ideology”, Mary Habeck has explained two major reasons for September 11 attack on the United States. The theme of this article is that the extremists are considering that the violence and killing of innocent people is justified on the basis of Tawhid. The first reason for September 11 attack is that the extremists or Jehadis consider Islam as their religion, and Tawhid is the base of Islam. Tawhid describes that only God is the sovereign power. According to extremists, the international institutions are giving sovereignty to people, and allowing them to make their own laws for their society instead of entirely depending upon the legal system that is introduced by the God. The extremists have also criticized democracy.
Furthermore, the extremists consider that the fight between the good and evil has been continued since centuries, and God has allowed people to fight physically, if possible, if not then fight through words in order to overcome the evil aspects that are becoming dominant in the world. They also have faith that the Muslims who respond to the call for fight will be awarded highest place in the world hereafter.
The primary source has revealed about the Jihadist ideology that they want to enforce Islamic law on all the states. This can be analyzed from the long term goal of Al-Qaida that wants to convince all the Muslims towards Islam in accordance with their vision and ideology. They consider it a Jihad, so they are struggling n order to control and secure the future of Islam. But, as a matter of fact neither the God nor any religion of the world has allowed killing of the innocent people in the name of religion. In this regard, peaceful means such as compromise, dialogues, and peaceful participation in the political processes should be encouraged for finding permanent solution of the problem.
