Conclusion
The United States got everything necessary from China, Japan, Russia and its own states like California and Florida. Although the war is unfortunate and it destabilized the relationships among the countries of the continent, but it was inevitable and ultimately proved out to be a right thing to shape boundaries of the region. In the late 19th century, the major world powers (France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia) began to carve China into spheres of influence, while in the Qing Dynasty. The United States, lacking such an influence, aspired to end this practice. In 1899, U.S. Secretary of State John Hay sent diplomatic letters to these nations, asking them to guarantee the territorial and administrative integrity of China and not to interfere with the free use of treaty ports within of areas respective influences. Major Powers avoided engaging without the agreement of other powers. Hay considered this attitude consent to his proposal, which would be called the policy of open doors. While generally respected internationally, the policy underwent open failures. The Russian violation in Manchuria during late 1890s constituted the first knock back. The United States protested against these acts, leading to a war between Russia and Japan in 1904. Once again, Japan undermined the policy of Open Doors with its Twenty-One Demands imposed on the Republic of China at the time. In addition, Japan concludes clandestine treaty with the Allies, promising the German territories in China. The most important failure occurred in 1931, when envasion and the Japanese occupation of Manchuria, setting up the puppet state of Manchukuo. The United States, in addition to other countries, strongly condemned the act but hardly did anything at that time to stop.
