The era of civil war caused poverty and misery in people especially the blacks who did not have any valuable sources of income. Despite the fact that they had struggled their ways past forced labor, they were left jobless and with very little to depend on. This made them seek jobs in plantations and other odd places. However, other motivating factors pushed the blacks towards looking for the most available jobs which in this case was only to work on the plantations. Certain rules and imposition such as heavy taxation and a high cost of life made the ex-slaves look for ways of generating income. They were forced to go back to their old ways which involved working on the farms and plantations of rich white tycoons. Other than that, the black slaves were glued to the rich tycoons in the farms through apprenticeship. This was a better payment to them since once you acquire the knowledge needed for ultimate survival you could break off and start a place of your own and there was nothing more than freedom the blacks sought.
The crisis of masculinity refers to the controversial problems men face because of their gender. In most ancient and modern times, a crisis of masculinity has led to the depression of the male gender. For instance, during the civil war, most men were taken into the field during battles and out to fight despite their ages and abilities. After the war, most of them were either dead or injured severely with many of them being paralyzed and being unable to work normally as before. However, after the civil war had calmed down, the crisis of masculinity was salvaged by the male soldiers being compensated for their hard work and the damages caused by the war. Despite feeling awful about the war, these compensations brought back their hearts that the work they did during the war was never in vain.
In the early 19th and 20th century, there was a massive migration of the African American citizens from the south. This was following the legislative laws which had been passed across the country that every individual was to be put in their respective social class. These laws were following the orders of reconstruction of the entire cities. The southern states had developed a great racial caste system which completely alienated the blacks out of the social system. As a result, the African Americans were forced to flee the southern region to better places where racism had not hit the ground that much.
Wounded Knee is a moment in the history of African Americans and the white settlers when the relocation of the African Americans had become a great issue which prompted the government then to impose a policy to relocate the African Americans. The initial intention was for the military to escort the African Americans out of the state but instead, they ended up being shot and killed in a massacre. The massacre was an important event for the native white Americans because it marked the last efforts of eliminating the African American resistance in the US.
Many people opposed the idea of women suffrage in the US, and they had various reasons why they had to oppose the ideas. Some of them argued that if women suffrage continued then most of the women would be corrupted by politics, and, therefore, they would die out. If by any chance the women were involved in politics they would have stopped to get married and they would never have children and as a result, the human race would die out slowly. The men in that era had significant reasons why they never wanted to give the women a vote. However, the women wanted a voice in the society, and thus they were against women suffrage, and they wanted to achieve equality with the men despite all the odds. The women were capable of citizenship and. Therefore, they had a right to making decisions in the society.
