Need Assessment: Homeless Families
Homeless families represent a unique population with unique needs. Needs assessment provides useful information for use in the budgetary and goal formulation processes. In order to measure the normative needs of the homeless families, I will rely on the federal agencies tasked with dealing with the homeless families data. This involves trying to understand the normative needs from the secondary sources available. Collecting data from direct-service agencies will provide the populations expressed needs, (Kettner, 2017). Utilization data categorizes service based on the person, the activity, and the cost of that service. However, the most powerful tool for need assessment is social survey which provides the perceived needs of the population. It provides the original data making it more reliable, (Kettner, 2017). It also increases the awareness levels within the community and establishes a line of reference for the future. A public forum is another tool for collecting perceived data which is less costly compared to a social survey. It is a general meeting for the public to offer their testimony. A focus group, on the other hand, helps in the characterization of the relative needs of the population.
Objectives
The objectives for a homeless family’s targeted program include:
-Increasing community awareness about the homeless
-Improving the access to social needs
-Eliminating prejudices about the homeless families
Importance of Cohesive Mission
A mission statement outlines the purpose of the organization and highlights the main focus of the organization activities. It sets the baseline for the setting of goals and objectives of the organization. In other words, the mission statement highlights the organization’s reason for existence by providing a sense of direction, (Kettner, 2017)
