Forgiveness is a quality that earns wide admiration and helps in making friends. It may sound easy but Forgiving is not an easy task. Today Forgiveness is vanished from human behavior and people are becoming more revengeful. This paper intends to discuss forgiveness and how people learn to forgive themselves along with discussing several other related aspects of the forgiveness.
According to Lama Yeshe the foundation of forgiveness starts from within. He says “Be gentle first with yourself if you wish to be gentle with others” (Davidson). Individuals make mistakes in their life and hurt others, by the time they realize their mistakes it is too late. Circumstances sometime become measurable that people forget forgiveness. It is important that people learn to forgive others and themselves. People can learn forgiving themselves by applying few concepts and by adopting few practices.
Accept what you are, love yourself and allow yourself to be happy. People should focus on specific incident for which they feel bad and forgive themselves by understanding their value or worth. It does not mean that people should neglect their mistakes instead they should forgive themselves by making a promise that they would never repeat that mistake (Jakes). People should realize that sticking on specific fault will not stop the life but certainly damage the growth; it would not let individuals to feel free and improve on their mistakes.
It is imperative to realize the significance of forgiveness in order to forgive yourself. Sadness, anger, and blame disrupt the abilities of person. Forgiveness allow person to live the life in present. People do not forgive themselves because they think that they will lose the sense of respect (Davidson). However the reality is different after forgiving people feel free and ready to become a better and good person.
People should consider the fact that forgiveness does not mean to forget. It is always important to learn from your mistakes and move ahead in the life. It is essential that individual should evaluate the positive and negative aspects associated with forgiveness; they will find that forgiveness is always better whether it is for others or for their own. Individuals who do not forgive themselves get trapped in anger, punishment and negative emotions which resulted in poor health and illnesses (Jakes).
People should accept their emotions and allow themselves to face all emotions such as fear vulnerability and anger. It is always better to face than to avoid any problem. Face the problem and get rid of it for forever. People should face the emotions and accept them by forgiving themselves (Jakes). No one in this world can be perfect hence it is not require to have standards higher than others. It is important not to give much attention to illogical expectations of other; every individual has their own limitations.
People can apply these concepts or thinking on various issues related with society and politics. No person in this world can be perfect hence it is important to forgive mistakes done by politicians and members of society. Forgiving small mistakes make by people who are living in society, friends and family members make life easy and enjoyable. All politicians and leaders should learn that making mistake is not wrong but not learning from those mistakes is wrong. All leaders should learn from their mistakes and deploy their efforts in bringing social welfare policies. They should perform activities that are accepted by large population and designed for good of great number of people.
