Questions How can English be linked to the native language as when the languages are translated, they usually lose the original meaning and strength. Also, the second language with has to be used in the combination with English hasn’t been specified. This might differ from culture to culture and country to country. And the implementation and method to use it can also differ. It needs to be planned accordingly. The age group can also be a question as the pace of learning depends upon metal and chronological age. What I learnt
The reading gives a clear insight to the importance of the native language/mother tongue and suggests a method in which they both can be taught in combination. The sole emphasis must be in the conveying the knowledge and nourishing the minds of the people and for that, which so ever language could help must be used. English is the international language and its importance can’t be denied. Therefore the bilingual system of teaching can be helpful. However the teaching method needs to be designed really carefully keeping in mind the age of the students and pace of learning.
It is an effective method as teachers usually go on teaching in English and trying to feed all the knowledge in the minds of the people. They usually ignore if they are getting, understanding and leaning what they are teaching or not. This also needs a lot of training and demands for teachers’ expertise as every child has a unique psyche. When it comes to language, I need to under some very sensitive pros and cons. Obviously it won’t be easy but some hard work, research and passion can help me use it successfully for my students and giving them knowledge they deserve.
On the whole, the idea of teaching in the bilingual system is very effective and practical. . More research can be done in order to make it successful in different circumstances.
