I was taking the subject lightly at the start of the semester, until such time I realized that Human Resources Management is such an important subject. At first, I was thinking that this subject is for managers only or for those people who are planning to have people under them later in their careers, but as we go on with the topics discussed in the subject, I realize that this subject is not only for them. It is also for ordinary people and employees so that they may also be able be enlightened with their rights and privileges that are available to them and also for them to be able to have a background so that they may also be able to understand their supervisors someday and if they become one, they will be able to manage and lead their subordinates well.
The order of presentation of topics was very organized. It helped me a lot in appreciating the subject when the topics of understanding the behaviors of humans and the current rights and benefits of an employee were discussed first in addition to the recommended working environment an employee should have for his to be motivated and inspired to work. If the desired working conditions and benefits were not met, it is very heart-warming to know that the government has a set of rules that govern how an employee must present his/her grievances. For me, these are very important because this gives a picture of what the new workforce I expects when the time comes when joins the workforce either as an employee or as a manager.
I was also able to appreciate the subject when it discussed the topic on the importance of the right choice and placement of human resources and the need for an organization to conduct capability building for their employees and the must for an organization to apply for a rewards system for their employees to managers to be kept motivated as well as happy with their work for them to be productive. It is like having a give-and-take relationship with the organization.
After taking the subject, I now understand the importance of human resources management in any type of organization. I thought before that when companies hire, there is a factor of whom you know inside but after this I realized that hiring is not a simple task because it requires the proper assessment of an applicant so you will not end with a job-mismatched and trouble on how you will separate the employee. It is hard because, not all applicants with a good academic standings can fit in with the job you might be offering. Sometimes, hiring requires investigation beyond the papers presented to you by the applicant because you will not be hiring only his track record but bundled with it is the person itself. As I am foreseeing myself to hold people under me in the future, I will take note of all these learning to make myself a good human resource manager.
