Many people are unaware that they are a living magnet. They attract everything around them. This includes people, ideas, lifestyles, and other circumstances (Evans, 2006, p. 26). “I absolutely think that happiness is a choice. One of the most potent forces in human psychology is the power of habit. Do something, think something, and often enough it will become the only thing you can do or think. Choose to be unhappy and soon that’s all you will be. Live in a swamp and you’ll grow webbed feet” (Evans, 2005). This famous quote by Nicholas Evans explains that your life is held in your own hands. It is up to you to choose whether you will have a positive or a negative outlook on life. Positive thinking is an important aspect of life because your thoughts are reflected in the actions and decisions you make.
When it comes to the human body, the mind is extremely tricky, but you can train it to bring you anything you want in your life. According to The Secret, “this is a Universe of inclusion not exclusion. Nothing is excluded from the law of attraction. Your life is a mirror of the dominate thoughts you think. All living things on the planet operate through the law of attraction” (Byrne, 2006). The law of attraction is the belief that like attracts like, and that positive or negative thoughts will end in either positive or negative results. Humans have a mind that can be discern. We have the power of free will to choose our thoughts along with the ability to intentionally think and create our entire life with our own mind. The mind is very powerful and expresses all the energy you bring to it.
A person’s energy field constantly changes due to the fact that their thoughts and feelings constantly change. The stronger and more intense a person’s thoughts and emotions are, the greater the magnetic pull. As Willie Nelson (2006) once said, “Once a person replaces negative thoughts with positive ones, they will start having positive results”. Willie Nelson lived by these words of wisdom everyday and as a result was able to reach and accomplish all of his lifelong goals and dreams. When Nelson began his career he was hit with a road block because his first record was unsuccessful. This didn’t slow him down a bit, as a matter of fact, he started to think in a more positive way and the results he saw were positive. He sold songs which turned into hits and joined Prince’s touring band as a bass player. Willie Nelson believes that the type of energy people attract solely depends on the type of thoughts they have.
Throughout life when you are trying to accomplish a personal goal or reach a lifelong dream, the best strategy is to stay positive. Other good strategies can be used to help bring the law of attraction into action. Strategies help a person think positive because it allows them to stay focused on the task at hand. This explains that a person’s life is held in their own hands, leaving only themselves responsible for their actions. People have to learn that they are in charge of discovering their destiny nobody else can discover it for them.
Understanding the Law of Attraction is the key to living the life of your dreams. The Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe (Byrne, 2006, p.14). Just like gravity it is always in effect, always in motion. It is working in our life at this very moment. The Law of Attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about (Byrne, 2006, p. 14). Your dominant thoughts will find a way to Manifest. So if a person stays focused, on the good and positive things in their life, they will automatically attract more good and positive things into their life. If a person is focused upon lack and negativity, then that is what will be attracted into their life. In Jake Canfield and D.D Watkins book, Key to Living the Law of Attraction (2007) discusses examples on how to replace negative messages with positive ones. Instead of thinking “I do not want to be late,” think “I want to be on time.” Instead of a person thinking “I do not want to forget,” they can think “I want to remember,” or instead of “I can’t..,” they can think “I can begin to ” (p. 18)
Many people who do not believe in the law of attraction feel its not thinking positive that brings a person to where they are; it is motivation and hard work. Although it is motivation and hard work that makes success happen, it is proven that positive thoughts feed into the motivation and hard work to drive it to that success. Positive thinking promotes dedication so dreams can be reached. When a person thinks negatively, they are more likely to recognize all the negative things that happen and are less focused on any positive things that come their way. When a person recognizes all the negative things coming in their direction they start to get frustrated, feel down and feel as though they are not moving any closer to their dream. This usually makes it harder for a person to stay motivated.
Positive thinking is something a person has complete control over. They are the boss of their mind. In the book, The Magic of Thinking Big, by David J. Schwatsz, (2007) he refers to a person’s mind as a “thought factory” (p. 22). It’s a busy factory, producing countless thoughts in one day. Schwatsz (2007) says production in a person’s “thought factory” is under the charge of two foremen, one of whom we will call Mr. Triumph and the other Mr. Defeat. (p. 23) Mr. Triumph is in charge of manufacturing positive thoughts. He specializes in producing reasons why people can, why they are qualified, and why they will.(Schwatsz, 2007)
The other foreman, Mr. Defeat produces negative thoughts. He is the expert in developing reasons why people can’t, and why people are weak. His specialty is the “why-you-will-fail” chain of thoughts. Mr. Triumph will show a person that he or she can. Mr. Defeat will convince a person that they will fail. The more work a person gives either of these two foremen the stronger he becomes. Use Mr. Triumph one hundred percent of the time. When any thought enters the mind, ask Mr. Triumph to go to work. He will show a person how he or she can succeed (Schwatsz, 2007).
The first step in living the Law of Attraction is to understand how it works in our life. The importance of releasing the negative and staying in a positive emotional state of attraction in order for a person to achieve their dreams and desires was just discussed. Now that people understand a little bit more about how to participate in the process of the Law of Attraction, they can begin to take responsibility for everything that they are currently in the process of attracting into their life.
As Werner Erhard said, “Create the future from the future, not from the past.” It is time to use new positive emotions, thought patterns, and beliefs. It is time to really see the future a person desires and believes is possible. It is time to begin living the Law of Attraction. It is time to begin living the life of one’s dreams.
Through all these thoughts and beliefs, one thing is apparent. People choose to be happy, sad, angry, or any other emotion. They also decide whether or not they want to be successful or fail at what they do. If a person chooses to fail, there is no way a anyone else will be able to force them to succeed.
This would also refer a person that thinks that will do well versus someone that thinks that they are not good enough or will not succeed. For example, a person that is taking a class in biology tells themselves that they will be successful in the class. The person then will end up doing the work needed to make that come true. They will do the extra studying, and they will make sure to hand in top quality work, because they have it in their mind that they will do well. If a person thinks that they are going to fail or they do not think that they are good enough to pass, they will tend to do less work and act indifferent to any constructive criticism that they are given about the work that they are doing.
