Introduction:
Different occupations hold a different position in the market. It is very important that the skills of a person, the nature of job and inclination towards that job all co-ordinate. The growth of businesses will result in more job opportunities for an accountant and HR managers. This essay will discuss these two positions, and their future demand and prospects.
Accountant:
Accountants are one of the most in-demand profession because every business organization needs them. They take care of the financial records of organization or companies. In 2012, it was estimated that more than a million people, 1,275,000 employees, are employed as accountants, both in private companies and for individuals. Caruna reported that about 40% of the accountants had a proper certificate, and 10% of them are self-employed (Caruna, 1). With the growth of business globally an increase in the demand of accountant is expected and besides this every year many of them retire or get a job in any other field. The Occupation Outlook Handbook quotes that the demand for accountants is directly related to an increase in taxation, establishment of new businesses and growth of old businesses and demand for accountants by small businesses (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 7). The salary of accountants is about $37.70 per hour as reported in a data of 2014, which is about $65,940 per annum. The graph for the demand for accountants is continuously increasing. The projected growth of accountants in the years from 2012 to 2022 is about 8% to 14%. There is an increase in job opportunities in the years to follow. Projected opening of job for accountants from 2012 to 2022 is evaluated to be 544,200.
Pursuing an occupation depends on the personal interest in the particular area and the capabilities required carrying out the tasks. Accountants need to have a high intellect level in mathematics. It is considered as one of the safest careers as even when the economy of the country is strained, the organizations and business will need an accountant to manage their financial records. In accounting, many different choices are available, and a person is not bound to any one type of company. This flexibility allows an open option while looking for a job. Besides this, the well-experienced accountants who have high pay in the company can become a partner of the company too. However, the nature of the job is very stressful and tireless documentation, and paperwork can become boring for some.
Human Resource Manager:
An organization, business or companies need to have employees which suits best for their company and motivate the employees. A Human Recourse Manger fulfills this task for the company. They connect the employees with the company’s management. In 2012 approximately 103,000 HR Managers were employed, and almost every business or organization had their HR Managers. There are five industries which employee HR managers mostly. They are companies 14%, manufacturing departments 14%, government 12%, technical services 10% and in health care setup about 10%. These HR managers also travel to other countries and states if they are working in a company that has offices elsewhere. The average median salary of HR manager in 2014 is estimated to be about $49.41 per hour, which is around $102,780 per annum. The growth of HR managers in future is at the same ratio as any other occupation. In the years, 2012 to 2022 the estimated projected growth of HR manager is 8% to 14%. The job opportunities will also increase with time. Projected job openings for HR manager in 2012 to 2022 are evaluated to be 40,600.
The opportunity of job for an HR manager is variable, but it is most likely that with the growth of business and organizations the need to keep an HR manager will be considered equally important. With the introduction of Affordable Care Act by Obama, it is more likely that HR managers will be appointed at an increasing rate. So, if a person has good communications skills, is strong in quick decision-making, has leadership qualities and can organize projects maturely then that person is fit to become an HR manager. To appoint the best-suited employee and deal with internal affairs, a company will need HR managers, and so it is a good option to choose pursue.
