Communication is the process of linking people to attain certain objectives. The Communication is the focal point on how the individuals create meanings within and across a variety of framework, civilizations, means and medium. Communication is a process used to timely and properly exchange information between a sender and receiver to achieve the desired goal (Youssef, 2005).
The communication feature is different and social scientists, humanists and cultural studies research into the field. Scientific discoveries and technological inventions during the 19th century laid the foundations that would eventually lead to mass electronic media (Steinberg, 2007). There are three styles of communication verbal, written and non-verbal that is practically see individuals assumes significance. Verbal communication involves individuals or the use of devices like phones. The intermediate form of messaging is by word of mouth. The communication via devices will involve the sender who calls and receiver is the person on the other end of the phone. The verbal communication is synchronous, and feedback is immediate.
The written communications output is on print, and this includes letters, e-mails, procedural and training manuals, memos, and proposals. The messages appear on display or paper. The method is one sided asynchronous. The message answering is not immediate unlike verbal where communication is instant. The communication can involve one or many people. The communication through voice mail is one sided, conference calls and listening to speeches is one- many listeners and e-mails can have only one or many receivers. The message acted upon depending on the receiver who can communicate immediately or later. The message can receive different contributions from the recipients.
The non-verbal communication is the gestures; behaviour can provide an interviewer or the spectators about the individuals. The communication often is important during job interviews the panel look at the dressing, gesturing, how they speak and facial impression to judge the suitability of the candidate. The combination of non-verbal communication and other types of communication contribute to the overall effectiveness of communicating of an individual.
The different types of communication have different strengths and weaknesses and an individual will chose the type to use depending on the goal. The obstacles common in firms affect the output negatively, and the need to find the solution is critical for the success of the organization. The key to communicating requires the sender to understand the prospects and training in different types of communication. The receiver needs to understand the needs of the sender. The message that is understandable, concise and easy and the communication media in use require multiple avenues.
The different types of communications exist in the society are extrapersonal, intrapersonal, interpersonal and organization. In extra personal communication is the communication between individuals and non-human unit. In this communication, the sender and receiver require understanding and the receiver using sign language. The intrapersonal communication takes place within an entity this is sender as an organ, receiver the brain and feedback by the brain.
In intrapersonal communication is the sharing of information among people and this is formal or informal. This involves communication between family members, friends and different people. The organizational communication is in two parts internal and external operation. In internal communication, it occurs within the firm and external depends on work related communication with people outside the organization. Mass communication involves communication through mass media books, journals, TV and newspaper and an intermediary is required.
The information is important in organization, and effective communication is vital in the success of an organization. The organization uses communication to acquire process, store and arrange for use within and external of the communication.
