The handicap population faces significant challenges in terms of physical or mental capacities, which puts them at great risks of numerous threats. Studies suggest that handicapped people are twice as likely to experience acts of violence than other people (Risk Factors for People with Disabilities, 2020). Based on these statistics, it is essential to develop programs that could safeguard the members’ wellness by addressing such threats. A qualitative study regarding how to safeguard the interests of the members can aid in policy development. This step is essential considering the fact that the number of handicap population has grown and therefore, security challenges could increase in the future. Based on recent statistics, there is evidence that in the past 5 years, there is an increase in the number of handicapped members who are victims of rape, assault, and other forms of violence (Rizvi et al., 2018). It is therefore, important to conduct qualitative research to determine the focus areas that could be addressed to solve the problem.
A qualitative study of the phenomenology design is relevant in analyzing the issue as it can describe the members’ experience. In this regard, the sample would be drawn from handicapped individuals. Moreover, the study could gauge the members’ opinion regarding the changes they believe could aid in ensuring their security. In the online platform, there are numerous groups constituting members of the group. Therefore, the sample to be engaged in the study could be drawn from the platform. By understanding all the relevant issues in this regard, it is possible to recommend policies that could improve their security and more so, reduce the acts of aggression that are perpetrated against them. Below are some of the interview questions that will be used to analyze the security needs of the population.
