There a lot of connection between information technology and biblical concepts of wisdom and intelligence. The book of Proverbs talks about wisdom in almost all the passages. There are many passages where the concepts of wisdom that are presented in the bible relate with what is there in information and data mioniongng and the intelligence and information that come from it. This paper will analyze the concepts of how information technology and the biblical concepts of wisdom are related.
IT relation with biblical concepts
In proverbs 8:32-35, we are told that we should always seek for wisdom and we should always look at the doors of wisdom. This means that new wisdom keeps on coming. This can be likened to the dynamic concept of technology. With technological changes that are seen every day, there is the need to ensure that the organization is ahead in technology. We should take heed of the technological changes that are seen in the world. The bible also says that we should take heed of the instructions and watching daily at eth doors of wisdom. Information technology keeps on changing and so the implementers should always be watchful of the new changes.
Information technology is built on data and information. It is from data that information and insight is retrieved. The data makes enables information to be retrieved using advanced data mining tools. There is a lot of data and it requires persistence and correct data mining tools in order to learn from the data.
For one to get valuable information from the data there is need to learn the trends that are found in the data. The data will also have to be protected so that they are not corrupted. There is the issue of data integrity. Data integrity is protecting our data so that they remain with the same meaning for a long time. They should not be altered to have different meanings. This is just like the same concept of the bible and wisdom. We are told that we should guard our wisdom and we should also earnestly search for it. Wisdom should be protected so that we have them for a long time. In Proverbs 3 vs 1-3, we are told that if we keep the commands of our parents we will live a long life. This is the same case with information. If we protect data and make use of information that we get from the data, we will get invaluable information and important insight from the data and the company will be in operation for a long time.
We are also told that we should not let go of love and faithfulness; that we should bind them on our necks and also that we should write them in our hearts. This is the same thing that we are told in concepts of security. We are told that our security credentials should be bound and known only by us. We should have our passwords and s in our hearts. We should not let anyone know them. This will protect our data from being corrupt. Our databases and data warehouses should be protected and guarded so that the data in them will remain being the same. As we are told that we should pay attention to the instructions that we are given by our parents, the same thing with information technology. We should keep enough attention to the information that we get from the data. We will have a lot of benefits by any trends that are shown by the data.
Knowledge is more profitable than money. He is blessed he who finds wisdom. Just like this, organizations should invest in their information technology instead of buying other types of assets like vehicles. Having good data and employing the right data mining techniques is a good investment that a company can make. Companies should invest in information technology techniques that will assist them to learn and gain new competitive advantage from in the market. This is more important than employing more human resource personnel or tangible assets. This is the wisdom that we are told to invest in.
We are also told that blessed are the people who possess wisdom as they will reap from it. Leaders will want to use these tools to improve their profitability. In the same case, organizations will want to use information technology tools to gain competitive edge over the competition.
Intelligence and information
In the world of information technology, it is taken that for one to have information, there is the need to have intelligence and work on this intelligence to get important information from it. There is the need to have good tools for analysis and make the available data to get the important aspects of the data in an intelligent way. Intelligent way because not all data will need to be analyzed. The intelligence lie in the selection of the data that need to be analyzed and the choice of the tools that needs to be applied in analyzing the data to get the right information.
The writer of proverbs does insinuate that information can just come without intelligence. He insists on many occasions that one has to diligently search for wisdom. There is the intelligence to look for wisdom. One has to look for wisdom. One has to have intelligence to know that wisdom is got by searching for it and also by refusing to be led astray by others. The writer of proverbs argues that wisdom is standing and calling for people to go to it. We are therefore required to have the intelligence to go for it.
There are many instances where the wise are compared to the foolish. The writer of the book of proverbs compares these two people in the way both of them look for information. We are told in many occasions that the wise will know when to be angry and when not to. Fools will not analyze the data that are presented to them keenly. That is why they lack judgment. They fail in many situations because they don’t take time to look at information keenly.
Wisdom in the book of proverbs requires one to be patient and look for it. Without this, it is hard for one to get knowledge. Although the bible talks of miracles that were performed by many people, getting wisdom does not involve divine intervention. It requires one to have the intelligence to search for it. The writer of proverbs therefore does not argue that wisdom without patience and intelligence.
