IT consists of software, hardware, personnel, data employed in the production and procedures, and use of information, dissemination, formal and informal, in an organization. But mostly we consider IT as only formal information systems as reporting from data. The Audience of this research is college students.
World is now changing every day the things which were miracle in history is now a part of our daily life so we can say that future will be more unpredictable. There were days when money in banks was handled by just paperwork. And when the number of accounts and customer increased to a level that it was impossible to handle all customers and giving them good service in time. So technology made it possible and now you can see that only in US more than 50% payment transactions are E-payments and no paper work is done to transfer money from one end to another. This is Information technology which is helping us to get ourselves meet with the challenges of future. This paper work to e-payments is the best example for how the information technology is creating a paradigm shift. Social media and internet is helping to be connected. Businesses are running through calls and meetings are held through video conferencing.
It is been estimated that more than a third of capital expenses in the United States are directed to Information technology. It is clearly means that information technology is very important for organizations. There are so many impacts on the organizational operations by information technology as now due to it an organizations has biometric system to check attendance of employees, email is also plying a key role in official communications, video conferencing is used to access long distance and help in online meetings, attachments are send through email which save time and cost of sending through couriers worldwide. So if you compare the organizational operations before and after information technology you will find a big change in organizational operation. Information technology has also fastened the process and facilitated both employee and employer.
Using information technology in any organization transaction cost made by organizations is lesser then transaction made through paperwork or through personal. With the help of information technology any organization is able to outsource and it help for organization to get work from aboard or take less paid employees from other countries to work from home or to work from of sourcing company. We can take example of call centers which are now moved from USA to India and other eastern countries where cheap labor is available so in this case information technology is affecting these organizations behaviors and helping them to carry on their operations with less cost and increasing their productivity and profits. IT has change each and every aspect of any organization the ways of communication, Files transfer, online meetings and even nowadays salary transfer through information technology.
IT is also manage to reduce the coordination’s cost because sending email is much cheaper than to call someone in another part of world. IT has also lower the operational risks for any organization as now through well-defined reports organization can easily know its current, monthly and yearly position and put its future goal and achievements. It also helps to get and generates reports based on historical data from data base which help in getting organizational growth.
In conclusion we can say that information technology has a great impact on the behavior and operations of any organization and if any organization want to have a good growth and have a futuristic approach then it is not possible without using information technology.
