NY Bar Examiner
New York, NY 10001.
Dear Madam/Sir.
I am an applicant for the Bar Exam that is coming up. I have already filed my candidature papers for the same. I understand from the Exam Requirements that an Official Transcript needs to be sent to the Bar Board in order for a candidate to be allowed to take an exam. It seems that this requirement is absolutely mandatory and a waiver for the same can only be granted by the Bar Examiner. It is for this reason that I am writing this letter, which also supports the earlier petition that I made asking for a temporary waiver from the Official Transcript receipt requirement.
It should be noted that my institution of last study is located in Chad in Central Africa. The situation in my country is far from normal with sporadic incidents of violence and other humanitarian crisis that also affect other institutions, including academic ones. As a result, there is an inordinate delay on the part of my graduating institution in Chad to respond to my request to send an Official Transcript to the Office of the Bar Examiner. Additionally, my institution in Chad also suffers from gender bias and being a woman the officials there do not take very kindly to a woman studying Law abroad and practicing the same. As stated, I require this petition for waiver and this letter supports that petition in requesting a waiver of the Official Transcript requirement.
As a genuine candidate, I am ready to give any declaration or undertaking stating that an Official Transcript would be placed before you. Additionally, you may even choose to withhold my standing with the Bar Council or withhold my candidature till you receive this official transcript. However, given the timelines, if your office chooses to wait for this transcript from my institution in Chad it would lead to substantial hardships for me since I would then not be able to appear for the Bar Exams. I have already sent my BA transcript to the board.
It is my sincere appeal to your kind self, therefore, to allow me to appear for the Bar Exams and waive off the Official Transcript requirement.
