Internal Consultation Interview
It is always strenuous to carry out successful consultation interviews that potentially lead to downright agreement between clients and consultants, as it requires proficient communication skills and, above all, patience. While acknowledging that acquiring the best skills for consultancy is quite difficult and taking considerable time to do extensive reading of literature to attain the skills, I must admit that the core source of my aid in developing the skills was through the simulation exercise. I regard the simulation process a fundamental process that offers relevant tools for building observation, and problem solving skills, as well business skills for outstanding consultation interview.
Through the simulation exercise, I learnt different panoramas of how to carry out an eminent interview process. The simulation process entailed a clear cut engagement between the clients and consultants- during the exercise I learnt different behaviours and reactions of clients and consultants. The clients always showed adamant behaviors when confronted with challenging questions. They always tried manipulating essential aspects and taking undeserved glory. Additionally, they withdrew from the interview, and they never provided vital information, and the chief behaviour exhibited, was rigidness and high levels of silence. On the other hand, I also realised that the consultants counter reacted in different ways. In cases where they never received relevant response that matched their expectation, they would be overly disappointed; however, they continued with the interview purposefully to earn more money. When the consultation was toilsome, most of the interviews were subjected to pull backs and unconscious engagement.
Further, I also acquired the emblematic principles on how to handle uncertain issues. From the simulation, it was evident that the consultants requested for issuance of detailed information on a later date, which was to be accompanied by detailed datelines and further research, probably to ensure collection of relevant information, in cases of uncertainties.
Concisely, besides helping me improve my analytical abilities through every psychological perspective, the simulation exercise aided me understand the expectations of clients during interviews and consultation sessions. Again, I was able to learn relevant management and operational skills from the simulations exercise.
