There are several tools for data analysis which includes several statistical operations like variance, time series etc. Global Monitor Platform (GMP) is one the wide used tools for data analysis. This internship project is meant to have an overview of Data analysis of the Global Monitor Platform (GMP).
Duration of the project: June 3st 2013 to July 31st 2013
Duty: Duty of this internship is to be involved in data analysis of carbon 12, 13 and 14. The detailed description has been mentioned in research methodology.
Description of work and Research methodology: In this project data for carbon 12, 13 and 14 have been analyzed from over 5000 samples over last three years. This process has been performed by GMP. Different types of statistical techniques have been used. Reference gas of known composition has been included in sample analysis. The result consists of figures of merit for signal variance. This has been used to determine instrument design and performance. The final product has provided a basis for a Quality Assurance and Quality Control program for the GMP.
Lesson learned or accomplishment: Learning points are knowledge about GMP device along with its functional aspect in measuring carbon 12, 13 and 14 values in the free atmosphere without preconcentration as well as evaluation of statistics and Allan variance statistics for each of 12CO, 13CO and 14CO.
Benefits of this project: This project is very beneficial to have an overview of GMP. It also helps to have knowledge about Allan variance (AVAR) and AlaVar 5.2 which are very useful tools in
data analysis and to know the program’s capability of computing three Allan Standard Deviations of a Time series.
