Interpersonal intelligence
Introduction
Intelligence is a word derived from Latin that refers to the ability of someone to be logic, plan communicate and understand others. Problem-solving is still a key in the intelligence capability of someone; it is believed learning, and creativity of someone is influenced by intelligence capability of the individual (Peterson, 2004).
Interpersonal intelligence
Based on my self-assessment I think my intelligence type is interpersonal. Interpersonal intelligence is the capability of a person to communicate with others eloquently. Interaction of with colleagues during events is exhibits that one poses this type of intelligence. Young kids, politician and celebrities are purported to pose this type of intelligence. It is because their lifestyle forces them to interact with different people in different settings.
Interpersonal intelligence is one kind of intelligence that has enormous benefits to anyone beyond any measurable terms (Peterson, 2004). It has impacted both positively and negatively towards my development in life in various ways. On the positive side, it has made me more eloquent in expressing my views and giving speech during family events. According to (Goleman, 2006) interpersonal skills provide the platform for an individual to gain confidence day by day leading to perfectionism. On the negative side of it my ease in interacting with people has cost me, I have a list of friends whom some I don’t even remember, but they do. This is disgusting when someone knows your whereabouts even going to the extent of quoting the meeting date, venue and perhaps dressing and still you can’t remember. Interpersonal skills can be a blessing and a curse at the same time, at one time it is beneficial the next minute it costs you more than harm.
According to (Goleman, 2006) argued that learning has no limit, as long as you started from somewhere, definitely you can adjourn and pick up from their later on in life. Interpersonal intelligence has proven to me that each and every day someone learns something new, which adds value to someone. It has motivated me to be enthusiastic in learning in the anticipation of adding value to my knowledge capacity.
As a student at Ashford, interpersonal intelligence will help me interact freely with my lecturers and fellow students. This will be beneficial to me in my educational pursuit since I will be able to discuss with my fellow students the on concept I didn’t understand while in class and at the same time meet my lecturers for more elaboration on complex concepts without being shy when approaching them. At personal life, the ability to be sensitive to the moods and people’s temper will help me avoid creating tension among people who are violent even on petty issues. According to (Peterson, 2004) Interpersonal intelligence is the foundation of peace in a society.
