Even when times are dark, there can always be hope. This paper will reflect on the former television show on AMC called Intervention. It will reflect the learning experiences from the show. Last it will show why this is important throughout the paper.
Intervention has therapists that are all former addicts. They come to the home of a family of the addict to meet them and learn about the addict and their family. The therapist then plans an interview which will deal with confronting with the addict. The addict is not aware of this intervention. Because this show has been so powerful, multiple episodes were watched. There was only one episode where the addict knows about the intervention.
At the intervention meeting, the therapist and the family of the addict, try to encourage the addict to takes steps into recovery by going into recovery program. Intervention handles all addictions from drugs, alcohol, eating disorders and other addictions. The program then shows the addicts going into rehab. Next it will show how the person is doing and then show 30 days later if they made or not. A person can go on their home web page and retrieved additional information regarding any of the addict’s recovery.
The recovery is heartbreaking and motivating. It reminds people there are people with problems worse than theirs. It reminds people to cherish life. It reminds us to try to not be so judgmental when a family member is going through an addiction. It reminds people not to be judgmental when hearing about other people problems. This show has countless themes that are mixed with hope, love, and encouragement. This show also tells of anger and the sadness.
It shows these emotions from the family members and loves ones who are frustrated with the addicted to keep continuing down the path. It shows how the family members just want their family member back before they had an addiction. It shows how hard it loves someone that is destroying their life, regardless of the countless times a person tries to help.
It also shows that the concept of help has been feared by countless addicts for different reasons, and instead of asking for help, they choose to continue down the dark path. It also shows the addicts that did not know to ask for help due to chronically repeated trauma in their life.
Again, the concept of life is cherished. The shows tell the story of the addict before they were addicted and what lead them to the abyss. That was the purpose of watching different shows. Through different shows, it gives more experiences knowledge of the different type of addictions and struggles that addicts encounter. Through this information, it helps better cherish the important things in life. Intervention is filled with all different type of vitals and emotions. Through these experiences, we learn about the struggles of the addicts and their family. We know there still is hope.
