The IT infrastructure needs to be deployed appropriately and economically in order for the 400 employees, 200 at the headquarters and 200 remote, to access the network resources of the network. This article looks at discussing the seven infrastructure components that would constitute the new online book store.
The first component is the computer hardware platform which will be constituted by workstations or desktop computers, servers, tablets, and laptops. The components will either ne for service purposes required by the whole network as in the case of servers or individually used as in the case of desktop computers, laptops, and tablets. The servers will consist of 2 Sun Servers for database functionality and 10 Dell blade servers that will be mirrored to provide the following services: Active Directory, Exchange Server, Web Server IIS, Application Server for Accounting, and Remote Access Digital Certificates for accessing online reading of books. As for the individually allocated computers, there will be 100 Dell Desktop computers assuming that an approximate 100 corporate warehouse workers. Remote employees will utilize 50 Dell tablets assuming that 125 remote employees are warehouse workers. Lastly, 25 Dell laptops will serve the remaining remote employees.
The second component of the network is the Operating Systems Platforms. The company will deploy Microsoft Windows 8 for 100 Dell Desktops, 25 Dell Laptops, and 50 Dell Tablets. It will deploy Microsoft Windows Server 2012 for 10 Dell Blade Servers. And Sun UNIX for 2 Sun Servers.
The third component is the Enterprise Software Applications which will deploy the Oracle PeopleSoft CRM.
Fourthly is the Networking/Telecommunications component, which will deploy Cisco for LAN connectivity, Internet and remote connectivity, and for voice, message, and mobile tracking connection.
Fifthly, Consultants and Systems Integrators component will employ EDS for database online reading interaction. Sixthly, the Database Management and Storage system will deploy Oracle for multiple database management of books in online reading, and the EMC for SAN storage of books.
