The International Journal of Organizational Behaviour & Management Perspectives published an article titled, “Motivating Multigenerational Human Resource. The article aims to provide a workable solution to motivate employees while acknowledging the generational differences that exist among the various generations that can be found in the workforce. The four primary generations that exist in the job market have varying views and values when it comes to their jobs. Currently there are the Traditionalist, Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, and Gen Yers in the workforce who must work together in organizations, yet struggle to see eye-to-eye on what is important for their careers.
The study hoped to examine the values that the different generational groups bring to the work environment and figure out a feasible motivational strategy that would encourage all the different generations working within a company. By looking at the different areas of value that each of the generations has regarding work, an attempt to incorporate the ideal methodology or HR model to motivate each of the groups equally. Despite the various frameworks that could be utilized to motivate all the generations, no single particular system appeared to address the needs of motivating each of the generations. In conclusion, a combination of styles and systems must be considered by the human resource departments to find a proper motivational strategy for the employees of an organization.
The concept behind this journal article is very strong because it is important to acknowledge and understand the generational diversity that exists in the workplace. Unfortunately there were not any solid frameworks that were found to address all generations in terms of what motivates each. However, the overall examination of the journal topic is applicable to nearly all organization and human resource departments.
Kürşad Özlen, M. (2014). The Recent Trend in a Human Resource Management Journal:
A Keyword Analysis. European Researcher, 79(7-2), 1367-1375.

The article titled “The Recent Trend in a Human Resource Management Journal:
Keyword Analysis,” published in the European Researcher, focuses on the importance of human resources management through the key word analysis used most by various HRM journals and publications. The article begins by breaking down the historical practices of HR through the various periods in history beginning with “Pre-World War II through the Technological Advancement Era and Emergence of Strategic HRM (1990 to Present),” which helps to understand the ways that human resource management has evolved over time (Kürşad Özlen, 2014). The purpose of the study is to analyze the keywords most popular in searching the topic of HRM to find out the most used strategies in organizations.
The method used to collect the data was through a collection of the keywords analysis that was then put into “an excel spreadsheet, ordered and grouped under the categories by considering their similarities” (Kürşad Özlen, 2014). The categories are then placed into the HR terminology and distributed based on frequency. The results showed the following findings: “Employee rights and their career (18.3%), management (14.6%), contextual issues (10%), organizational strategies (9.5%), performance measurement and training (9.5%), behavioral issues and employee motivation (5.7), organizational culture (5.4%), technical issues (4.1%)” (Kürşad Özlen, 2014). One of the primary results from this study shows that the focus of most HR departments is on practice versus theory and emphasizes consideration of the organization rather than the individual (Kürşad Özlen, 2014). In conclusion of the study, it is important to understand the role of HR in this ever changing highly technological business environment that continues to change at a rapid pace.
I found the strength of this article to depend on all that can continue to be learned about HRM through an analysis such as the one used in the study. By creating keyword analysis’ like this study, one can keep up on the latest trends in improving the practices of human resource development that are most popular. This article could be useful to any individual or corporation who wishes to find an informative system to analyze the next theory to implement into a practice among the company.
