- In the introductory material, key themes such as “sin,” “sacrifice,” and “relationship with God” emerge. How do these themes apply to the story of Jesus? Why are these themes important to a Christian worldview?
The doctrine describes the reconciliation of human beings with God. This is referred to as atonement. Atonement is the pardoning or forgiving of sins through the crucifixion and death of Christ Jesus. Jesus sacrificed himself for the sins of human beings by coming to the world and dying by crucifixion. This then made it possible for the reconciliation between humans and God. A Christian Worldview is a how a Christian conceptualize the world. The themes of sin, sacrifice and relationship with God show that Jesus is God in human form. Christians believe that when Jesus died, all human beings died with Him. Christians believe that when Jesus resurrected, we all resurrected with Him (Cosgrove, 2006).
- What do the events of Jesus’ birth reveal about whom Jesus is?
Jesus was born by Mary. Mary was a virgin. Her chaste character describes her virginity. There is no doubt that this attribute accounts the origin of Jesus to the Holy Spirit. Jesus has a lineage with David. David is a royal, making Jesus has a royal tie with David. The virgin birth marks superiority of all births, making the birth of Jesus unique. Adam was the only other person to be born with the divine intervention. The angel’s announcement of the birth of Jesus to the shepherds signifies that God does not discriminate against a human being (Cosgrove, 2006). The society claimed that shepherds were low lives in the society, but God chose them to be the first to hear about the birth of Jesus. This shows that Jesus birth was significant for all persons.
- After His baptism and temptation, Jesus returns to his hometown of Nazareth and reads from the book of Isaiah. Several other times, references are made to other books of the Bible, especially as prophecy that Jesus fulfilled. Jesus: Fact or Fiction is based on the Gospel of Luke. What is the significance of the Bible for understanding who Jesus is?
The Bible reveals that Jesus is a true humanity and an undiminished deity. Jesus is God. The Bible manifests Jesus as God justified in flesh. The Bible reveals to all Christians that Jesus is humility, justified by being born by man. The Bible reveals that Jesus lived a sinless life. The divine birth of Jesus showed that He came for the sins of the entire world. The world judged and crucified Jesus, for the sins of humankind. The Bible shows how human kind poured their sins onto Jesus- who never knew sin (Cosgrove, 2006).
- What do Jesus’ healings of others tell us about whom Jesus is?
Jesus performed many healings in the Bible. We get many teachings from these healings. Jesus is a healer. This is evident from the healing of the paralytic man and the healing of the ten lepers. Jesus is a divine being. This trait appears when he healed the ear of the servant. He only touched and healed the ear. The bleeding woman touched Jesus’ cloth, and she got healed. This healing showed that Jesus’ was divine. Jesus is a savior. He restored the blind man’s eyesight by just spiting on the eye. He healed the dead child by touching her casket (Cosgrove, 2006). The healings show Jesus as a miracle worker. He healed the centurion servant even before seeing the servant. He healed a leper, a miracle that had never happened during His time.
- What key themes stand out as most beneficial from Jesus’ teaching?
Love, forgiveness, acceptance, help and judgment were the key themes Jesus talked about in His teachings. On love, Jesus insists on loving each other. Jesus taught on loving the enemies, and that we should do well to them. Jesus teaches all human kind to love God. This strengthens human being relations with God. Jesus teaches on forgiveness. Reconciliation is one of the peaceful virtues Jesus teaches. We ought to forgive each other whenever we wrong one another. We should accept Jesus and his teachings. Jesus teaches that if we accept God the Father, then He will accept us into heaven (Cosgrove, 2006). He also teaches on helping each other. He gave an example like one of the Good Samaritan who helped the beaten up traveler. He showed how the trait of helping one other builds a relationship with God (Knight, 1998).
- Which parable of Jesus is most meaningful in the film? Why?
The parable of the Sower is the most meaningful in the film. A sower drops seeds on rocky grounds, on the path and among thorns. Some seeds were lost some that fell on good soil yielded fruitfully. The parables teach on success. It shows how different people use their knowledge to produce good results. The rocky surfaces, the good fertile soils and the thorny area represent different types of people (Nelson, 2005)
- On many occasions, Jesus claimed to be able to forgive sins. What is the significance of this claim for whom Jesus is?
Jesus loves. Jesus loves all human kind. He loves all human kind despite their sins. He says that there are no sins that are bigger than His Love. He is forgiving. Jesus forgives of sins despite the constant sinning. Jesus is a tolerant God. He tolerates the constant sinning. He forgives us without counting the number and frequency we sin.
- What stands out from the account of Jesus’ death in the film? What does Jesus’ resurrection mean for whom Jesus is?
Jesus’ death signifies that He has forgiven the sins of human kind. The three-hour darkness stands out in the film. The darkness signifies that Jesus had carried the sins of humans and that humans were free from sins. The resurrection of Jesus shows that Jesus overcome death. It shows that Jesus is a God. He rose from the dead (Cosgrove, 2006).
- Compare the film’s presentation of Jesus to the Gospel of Luke. What aspects of the film did one find surprising? Do one feel the film accurately portrayed Jesus, according to the Gospel of Luke?
I feel that the film accurately portrayed Jesus. The film shows the acts and life of Jesus. It shows how merciful Jesus is, and the way He performed the miracles (Nelson, 2005). The Gospel of Luke shows the life history and works of Jesus. I believe that the film accurately portrays the works of Jesus. The surprising aspect of the film is that some part does not concur with the Bible. The film does not show some part of Jesus life as it is in the Holy Bible (Knight, 1998).
- What is the significance of Jesus for a Christian worldview? In other words, why is Jesus necessary to a Christian worldview?
Jesus is crucial to the Christian Worldview because He taught on the importance of different traits. His teachings provide the path for Christians to follow. He is the greatest teacher, the greatest leader and the most humble leader. He had the opportunity to have the entire world, but He was humble and chose to serve all human kind instead of sitting on the king’s throne and rule. Christians ought to follow the examples and serve the entire world, just as Jesus did (Cosgrove, 2006).
I think that Christians must always tolerate each other. Jesus was tolerant. He teaches all Christians to be tolerant towards one another. Jesus gives all Christians examples of humility. We should serve others as a sign of humility. We should not look down upon others. The teachings of the Good Samaritan are signs of humility. Jesus exhibits teachings on love. He said that love is the greatest virtue. When we love one another, we will respect each other and exist peacefully (Knight, 1998).
Part 2 - Journal on Historicity and Person of Jesus
I think that Jesus is humble, tolerant, loving and forgiving. He serves the human race despite history referring to Him as the Greatest King. He had the opportunity of ruling the world. However, he chose to serve and die for human’s sake and sins. This attribute makes him the most humble king of kings. Many kings today cannot serve the normal civilians. They rather be on the throne and rule from their royal seat. Jesus loves. He loves the whole world. Love is the reason He chose to be born and raised in human flesh. He died for humans’ sake and despite living a sinless life. I strongly believe that, through His love we got salvation. He chose to forgive human their sins. He came to earth to reconcile the human race with God.
Jesus is a distinct person because He was born from the divine intervention. None of the remaining two trinities was born from this intervention. He came to save human kind despite the constant sinning by humans. He took the human flesh and existed as a normal human being. He felt the same pain as humans. He is distinct because He died for the human sake and then resurrected after the third day to symbolize that God has forgiven the sins of human beings.
After reading and viewing the film, I find that Jesus is a loving, forgiving and patient God. He lives a sinless life healing people. He teaches people on living the life that god wishes. I find that Jesus reconciles human being with God. He came to save the world from God’s wrath. He died for the sins of human beings to save humans from the eternal fire. He paves the way for all Christians so that we have a life that is desirable by God. Jesus is a God’s son.
He was born through divine means only Adam had been through divine interventions. This proves that Jesus was God’s son. Christians view the world as peaceful and is in accordance with the Christians teaching. I feel that my conclusion about Jesus align with the Christians’ worldview. This is because Jesus taught on love and forgiveness. This aligns with the way Christians view the world. Christians believe to live in a loving, forgiving and tolerant way just as Jesus did.
