Director of Program Development and Organization
Job Purpose
Director of Program Development and Organization (DPDO) reports to the society’s Chairperson. The DPDO is responsible for management of development programs in the Saudi Society for Political Science (SSPS). The Society aims at promoting political science in various jurisdictions. Director's primary role is to restructure programs within the insitution. Additionally, the DPDO should develop a plan to achieve organizational objectives. The Director should also possess a desire to learn, as well as expand responsibilities. Director of program development should assist the executive director in making crucial decision on various programs.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
The director of program development and organization should often complete roles and responsibilities successfully (Imperial College London, 2013). Particular accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Moreover, the executive can revise certain responsibilities. These revisions assist the director of programs development in conducting his or her duties. The roles can also be defined based on constitutional requirements.
The office bearer is responsible for program planning, management, human resources, marketing, and communications. The DPDO oversees planning and implementation of society's programs. Additionally, director ensures that activities conducted within programs are geared towards the achievement of set goals and objectives. The office holder monitors delivery of events and programs to maintain society's reputation. The calendar may direct these events. The director also chairs programming committees essential to program purpose.
The DPDO acts as a human resource manager within a program. The director identifies, recruits, interviews, and selects appropriate personnel for development programs. Selected individuals are forwarded to executive director for posting. Additionally, the DPDO makes recommendations for promotion, release, or reassignments to the executive director. The appointed director works with other management members in allocating funds. She or he serves as a marketing manager for the particular program.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in political science with a minimum of three years in management positions is essential. The director must demonstrate competencies in leading change, motivation, and commitment to positive results. Director for program development should be goal-driven, as well as client-focused. Additionally, the office bearer should be innovative and action oriented. Knowledge in planning, evaluation, communications, finance, governance, and human services is an added advantage. The director should influence members' attitudes and actions. Additional certification in computer and management is required.
Personal Characteristics
The director should possess personal characteristics that allow him or her to perform various responsibilities correctly. The officer should be flexible, committed to excellence, enthusiastic, and competent. Flexibility is crucial in working schedules of the director (Plunkett, Allen, & Attner, 2012). This enables him or her to perform duties as directed by the board of directors. Commitment to excellence is also a crucial characteristic. The society's policy requires that all members commit and sign documents for excellence.
Working Conditions
This is a position with high stress based on the performance of full duties. The director for program development handles complex problems, concepts, and details. She or he is required to perform rapid tasks as mandated. Additionally, the director assists in planning and implementing programs. The director maintains flexible working schedules for meeting the society's objectives. Besides, director for program development conveys positive attitude and image. Demonstration of commitment to continued growth and development is also essential.
Performance Standards
The DPDO sets several concurrent events. This is due to pressure from the responsibilities. Additionally, priority setting is essential since the society has several clients and activities (Plunkett, Allen, & Attner, 2012). She or he should possess the ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision. Performance is measured based on the capacity to identify various opportunities, as well as challenges. Besides, promotion of shared values and vision is essential to addressing problems.
