It is an ascertained fact that finding a good job in the strenuous, dynamic, demanding and ever-changing environment of the world of modern business has become an extremely challenging task for graduates as well as for experienced professional and specialists. "It's a competitive economy these days, with many job-seekers vying for the same openings" (Allen, 2015, p. 15). Therefore, it is of fundamental importance to develop an effective and all-encompassing job search strategy in order to compete successfully in the labor market.
In the first place, speaking from the perspective of job search, an individual looking for a job needs to define what he/she wants and what field he/she wants to invest his time in. It is crucial to determine what kind of people, what type of culture and work environment would be the best fit with you. Secondly, a job-seeker has to determine and enhance the most relevant professional skills and qualifications he/she needs or develop a plan to gain these particular skills. This step may include applying for various internship or exchange programs related to the chosen field of occupation. When an individual has gone through the above-mentioned steps, it is the time to prepare or review and make improvements to the resume and portfolio.
More importantly, any effective job search strategy provides for considering and assessing time management. In other words, any candidate has to develop and elaborate time plan regarding the process of job search, including steps such as sending applications, developing skills and qualifications, attending interviews, etc. In the process of job search, a candidate also needs to choose the most effective means and tools of finding a relevant position, such as monitoring companies' websites for available vacancies, posting a resume and portfolio on relevant job search sites, etc.
Finally, employing an efficient job search strategy means that a job-seeker is aware of and ready to face and deal with the job search challenges and obstacles.
