Comparing a Small campus to a big campus
The size of a college can make a big difference on a student's grade as well as his/her social life. Studies have shown that students who attend a school that has a large number of students per class tend to do poorly in grades and tests. But that does not mean that there are no benefits of going to a big campus. On the contrarily, a smaller campus will have a lesser number of students per class implying that the ratio of students to teachers is as well small. That enables the students and teachers to have a one on one contact something that fastens the passing of knowledge from the teachers to students. This paper will be endeavoring to expound on aspects such as the size, outside influences, and parental influences all of which support the opinion or position that a small college campus is better as compared to a big college campus.
In defense of the bigger college campuses, there are various advantages and benefits that can be associated to going there as well. For instance, if one is into sports like athletics, the program tends to be bigger in the larger campus than in the small college campus from where the student stands to gain from the program. On a similar note, social students tend to prefer the bigger campuses for they will have a better time bearing in mind that they are more social activities and functions that can be done in the bigger campus. In addition to that, there are more activities and groups in a large campus that students can decide to join including religious groups not forgetting to mention other types of programs that do not exist or function on smaller campuses. If one likes to be part of a large fraternity and do not mind making new friends most times, the big colleges are the better option rather than the smaller campuses.
Therefore, there are benefits as well as differences between big colleges and small colleges. It can be comprehended from the elucidation herein that a small college boosts of the advantage of smaller class sizes, a small student to teacher ratio and more parental influence for the students tend to be closer to home. Likewise, the larger campuses have their own advantages that they can boost of for instance, the ROTC programs, sports programs, and various social activities to select from. Studies have shown that smaller campuses can be better for a college student’s academic growth while for those students who wish to prosper in sporting activities; the larger campuses are the better options for such programs do exist there. It therefore narrows down to what a student deems best for him/herself when it comes to selection of a college to attend with the above points being reference facts to enable them make up their minds.
